FYI Costco 16" M1Max MBP Deal.

Just wanted to share I just picked up a New MacBook Pro (16-inch) - M1 Max with 10-Core CPU and 32-Core GPU, 1TB SSD, Space Gray with tax (Texas) for $3370. But! Costco is running a special right now that if you spend over $3k, they'll send you a $500 Costco gift card. I'll easily spend 500 bucks at Costco over the next year, so I'd say picking up a damn near maxed out 16" for $2870 is one hell of a deal. With the 90 day return policy, I also have piece of mind of seeing if the M2's are going to be able to compete on price/performance at $2870. I can't imagine the small spec bump is going to come cheeper than that! As a professional photographer (no video) I'll probably never hit the limit on this machine even when I move to medium format! So happy and can't wait till Monday when it arrives.

It is an Apple refurb with the following specs / cost: 16" MbP with 64GB + 2TB SSD hard-drive ($3679 + $399 3 yr AppleCare + tax)

The Costco machine is only 32GB + 1TB SSD but I believe that everything else is the same (same chipset, CPU & GPU). I recommended the Apple refurb but I believe that for the Costco machine will be adequate for her use (simultaneous development of multiple websites, video & audio processing but not huge amounts + other office-related needs, research, communications, etc), the 32GB + 1TB should suffice.

Anyone have any timely thoughts as she would need to jump today?

OP: thanks for bringing this to my attention! I'm assuming that this purchase did qualify for the $500 Costco credit, correct? Cheers...

Sounds good, also nice to keep in mind you can return it if needed within … I forget exactly but way more than 14 days, maybe 90 days.

I kept reading the qualifications and Costco didn’t exclude apple. Just anything over $3k and they’ll send a digital gift card in like 7-10 days. Definitely should qualify. Smoking deal. 90day return window and an extra year of warranty. No way can that deal be beat with anybody else.

Thanks for the additional feedback! I too think that it is a smoking discount (~$1400 <than Apple refurb including the store credit + new instead of refurb and I over-specked her machine because it seemed forward looking prudent to do so, but unnecessary because within 90 days she will know if it works for her (or not), so I'm in...thanks again for bringing this to our attention!🙏

I took advantage of this Costco deal last night, too. Had confirmation within a couple of hours that the $500 store card was coming. Very good deal, and I’ll have until January to decide whether to return if the M2 Max impresses.

I got the email the $500 digital card is coming too. I was looking for a m1Pro with 32gb / 1tb but that configuration was actually more expensive at all the retailers. Crazy I could future proof with the max 32 core and 32gb for $2800. Granted that is a couple hundred more than I wanted to spend for my needs, but I would have been crazy to not grab a better machine for less money with a 90 day return policy and an extra year warranty. Feeling like I stole this thing!

Agreed. Easy choice for me, though, with Christmas shopping imminent. Also will be purchasing a new TV soon.
