If you guys have a Discover card, they are doing 5% Cash Back bonus at Apple.com if you shop through the ShopDiscover link in your account, and another 5% Cash Back bonus for all online orders this quarter, so 10% off...not bad! And Discover card gives you an additional year of warranty (like AMEX cards).

Just a heads up. :)

Does not work for pre-order products.

Really? Where does it say that?

Only disclaimer I see is...

EXCEPTIONS: iTunes, Apple One to One Membership, Bose products, Apple in-store tutorial services, Gift wrap, gift card, gift certificates, shipping, taxes, or other service fees.

Hmm...I see, but it doesn't say "Pre-Order" in the Apple Store, it says "Buy Now", it's for sale today and ships in 2-4 days, no?

that's the problem I'm having now because is this pre-order or real sale? You know how these credit card companies can get pretty anal about fine print restrictions!

Guys, Discover has two different shopping portals: ShopDiscover and Discover Deals.

ShopDiscover excludes pre-order products. Discover Deals does not. Both offer 5% at Apple.

I cancelled my order and re-did it with Discover Deals. It's freakin confusing. Why have two shopping sites for the same credit card?

Or just wait until Black Friday when Apple, Best Buy, Target, discount the Ipad heavily including the new model. I do it every year. Save 5% with Discover plus the Black Friday discount of usually around $75. Total savings of about $105.

Usually costs me about $100 a year to get the new Ipad every year after trade-in and discounts. Not bad.

wait, shop discover is the same as discover deals!

even the banner says so! Confusing as google+

Oooor did you know that Discover price matches up to 90 days from purchase! :D So buy now and then if it drops by the end of the year, Discover will send you a check for the difference up to $500. I love this card. :)

hmmm it's all mungled. Though if you enter the deals page via the discover deals link, you get the less restrictive terms. If you enter via the old Shop Discover way and choose Apple from the pull down list, you get the more restrictive terms.

That;s a little tricky though since they want a dated ad usually. I tried this once. Not many deals on the internet have a date on the ad.

Yeah, I just entered through the link on the right side in the main account page when you log in and I don't see anything about pre-orders being mentioned, plus I still hold that this isn't a pre-order since it says "Buy Now". Either way I took a screen shot in case they try to deny it. :)

It's easy and lots of people have done it with success. All you need is a screen shot showing the local time, most people pull up two browsers side by side, one showing the website with the lower price and the other showing the local time.

You have got to be kidding me! Do you have a link?

My guess is that ShopDiscover and Discover Deals are actually two separate things, but Discover Deals is eventually going to replace and serve the same function as ShopDiscover previously did.

Ah so it's not actually taken off the price, just cashback?

But why wait when Discover offers 90-day price protection? Last year I got my iPad Air at launch, and then got $50 or $75 (can't remember) back a month or two later during the sales.

For what its worth, I still ordered it last year after they said iPads were excluded and got credit.
