FYI Outlook for Mac breaks reply threads

Microsoft has managed to break a very basic Outlook function – the ability to include the previous email in a reply.

The issue, which afflicts Outlook for Mac, was introduced in version 16.110, build 26061317, which rolled out to users last week. Before the update, the original message appeared in the reply window. After the update, nothing.

Switching to the new Outlook mode is another workaround. I was wondering why this wasn't affecting me; it looks like it only occurs when using Legacy Outlook mode.

True, but I lose access to the shared calendar when I switch to New Outlook.
That’s why I still use Outlook in Legacy Mode.

You're right, with a genuine Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online backend, shared calendars do work fine in New Outlook.

There's another way: you can publish the calendar in the OWA interface, which generates an ICS link. That link you can then add to Apple Calendar on the Mac, or even to New Outlook for Mac.

That's how I solved it in the end, and I actually prefer it — the calendar's on my iPhone now too, so I can finally send Outlook into retirement. 😄

The new outlook doesn't support IMAP of all things, so I won't be switching. I wish macrumors had warned me about this update. I'm having to re-install an earlier version.

Yeah i had not noticed because i'm in new outlook, but i can't say i'm surprised because...

Both new and legacy outlook suck in different ways and its like Microsoft have the interns fresh out of college looking for something to play with, and none of them have a clue how outlook is actually used in the real world.

PC situation is even worse...
