For those who haven't played it, 90% off is well worth the money.
App Store Link
will it run on macbook air?
description in mac app store:
"the game does run on all macs from 2009 onwards, mac with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics may not achieve smooth gameplay"
would anyone be so kind to point out how would the performance be if its to run on the 13" 2011 macbook air with Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor (with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory)
Thanks in adv
The HD3000 is a far better IGP than the 9400M.
grabbed a copy!
Thanks for the heads up. Will have to download it when I get home from work. I played the demo on the PS3 when it was first released on the PSN but never got around to buying it. On a related note I got to play the sequel at Gamescom in Germany back in August and I'm looking forward to that too.
Thanks for the heads up! It looks awesome - downloading now.
Really appreciate posting this, as I looked into it and ended up purchasing it. Great game already, and very fun. Graphics are pretty detailed for what it is.
Thanks man! Been interested in trying this game. Can't beat that price.
What a great deal! Runs great on my new MBA 2011.
Looks like a fun game.. can anyone think of a comparable game?
Will probably buy it when I get home.
The game play is basically a side scroller / platform jumper. You move left to right and jump up or down on platforms. The story is good, but what makes it interesting is that you actually play three different classes all at the same time. Then depending on the situation, you can easily switch from one class to another in an instant.
So far, I'm only 2 hours in, but for the price, I've already got my moneys worth.
Thanks for the heads up, just purchased this. I can see many hours spent on it
fan will kick in once i start the game, i have to tune the quality down a bit to medium,
regardless, gameplay flows well and graphics is gorgeous,
liked it very much
offer is still on, grab it! total worth!
(i'm on a 2011 13" 256GB MBA, default built)
I've now played it for a while and here are some of my other impressions :
You play three different classes all that the same time, each with their own abilities. They can each "die" indepenantly but things like health potions are shared.
Some of the puzzles REQUIRE a specific class to complete. This means, if that class is dead, you're screwed.
There are checkpoints throughout the level, so that if you get killed (all three classes) you can start at the last checkpoint. These are nicely spaced and you don't lose too much time.
Inventory, yes, you have inventory. But it is not obvious! Should have been included in the early level training. Same thing with skill points.
The levels are long, it can easily take you 20 to 30 minutes to get through a level.
Level checkpoints are NOT SAVED. This means if you don't complete a level, you have to start the whole damn thing over. This is my biggest problem with the game. You CANNOT pick it up for 5 or 10 minutes, make progress and quit. You lose all your progress.
It is fun, the graphics are nice, and the story is good. BUT some of the jumping is damn annoying.
Classes are not balanced well; warrior is "strong" but he always seems to get hit and thus always dead. Archer aiming sucks (especially if playing on the trackpad) but can kill things, typically, easier then the warrior. The mage, I hated him at first, but now that I realize you can drop boxes on the creatures and kill them, he seems over powered.
Good game, fun, not addictive, and can be annoying getting stuck at times, but I'd rate the game 7 out of 10. And for the price, even if you get an hour out of it, you're head of the game.
Bought this - I thought, "If an Intel 3000 IGP can run it, this AMD 2600 can!"
Boy was I wrong. Turns out my early 2008 iMac can barely even run it.
I am now stuck minus $2 and plus an inferiority complex.
Just got this from the App Store and for the price it's a steal, my only real gripe is the lack of checkpoint saves, my new (as in 3 days old) 13" MBP 2.4GHz runs it without a hitch on medium settings and it looks and sounds great, i haven't tried high.
Trine is a really fun game. I played it a while back and can definitely recommend it for anybody looking for a really fun game... especially for $2.
That's odd. Back when I had that machine, Trine ran perfectly on high.
Just finished Trine. But one thing I did figure out, even on my 2010 MBP i7, if I ran it in windowed mode, it sucked, it just wasn't smooth (but I had everything turned up).
Trine offers a ton of video settings to tweak to adjust performance, I'm sure you could get it to run reasonably well by making some compromises.
As I said, I just finished the game, it was fun; but often frustrating. The last level was an effort in insanity, there was no reason to make it that screwed up. Even worse, is you can get through all the hard parts but if your wizard is dead or has no energy left; you have to start over. Really lame. There were some "stupid" parts in the game and thus the 7 out of 10 stands. I would have given a higher score if those lame things were not included. Note to game designers; have to jump, in the dark and land on a small square or your character is instantly dead, isn't fun.
You can look forward to Trine 2 now.
Next up, Modern Warfare 1. Then, most likely, Portal 2. I might get to Trine 2 next year holiday season, that's when I end up buying 90% of my games.
