These cases are available on Amazon for $8.99 (with Prime Shipping) so I tried out their white version. I like the idea of a folio case, since I really like the Smart Cover on my iPad. Having something that protects the screen and back of the phone without adding much bulk is appealing to me, but I have absolutely no desire to carry credit cards with my phone, so I wanted one without credit card slots. Here's a mini review (this one is for the 6 Plus).
The Good:
The Bad:
The Ugly:
I actually really like the design of this case. The magnetic closure is great and it feels pretty good in the hand, but the color doesn't quite work for me, and I really don't care for the logo. I was perusing the Amazon listings after the case arrived and noticed that they had a version of this case with "superior PU leather" listed as a preorder shipping in a few days. Since I like the design but not the color/materials I decided I would order a few colors in the "superior PU leather" and see if they're better. The package can be opened and closed again without any damage, so I'll return this one and the others that I decide I don't need. I'll be posting more photos when they arrive.
I should also note that they actually have a version of this case that is similar but uses suction cups on the screen (!) to keep it closed instead of a magnet, so be sure you're getting the right one.
The Good:
- Slim folio that adds very little thickness or weight to the device.
- No credit card slots (a plus for me, anyway).
- Magnetic closure so the cover stays closed.
- Can convert to a stand, with multiple viewing angles.
- The shell that holds the phone in place is actually fairly unobtrusive, and doesn't interfere with horizontal swiping as much as some cases.
- Holes in the cover so you can talk on the phone with it closed.
The Bad:
- Feels cheap. Despite their talk about "premium materials" the PU leather and plastic don't feel that great. The pleather is very rough feeling and both the plastic and pleather have some relatively sharp edges.
- I hear that the camera cutout can adversely affect pictures taken with a flash. I never use the flash, but it's something to be aware of.
The Ugly:
- The "FYY" logo on the bottom corner of the case just doesn't work for me, although it's technically well done in chrome. I would much rather that there was no branding not the case at all.
- I don't think this comes through in these pictures, but the rough texture of the pleather actually gives the white color an almost sparkly iridescent quality, and this seemed a little too feminine looking for me.
