G-Map U.S. West and other versions

They just released a new version of G-Map U.S. West , calling it 1.0. The version I have is 2.1. It doesn't appear we will get updates? What a crappy thing to do to some who bought your app early on. Does Apple allow this?

Does anyone know if developers can do this? Can't email the developer right now, link doesn't exist. Apple takes forever to respond to app store questions.

Has anyone else bought g-map west? Before the update they are charging for.
