Hi all, I have a G Raid 8tb Thunderbolt 3.... Wondering if possible to swap out the HDDs with SSDs.....anyone tried this?

Hi there! I know it's been over a month since you posted but I just did this *today* and YES it is possible. I have the same G-RAID and I pulled the two HDDs and dropped in two WD Blue SSDs. They're not as fast as NVMes -- I'm only getting around 500 MB/s read+write -- but it's better than the previous speed and most of all it is QUIET. No more damned drive clicking. Note: you will need adapter trays to convert the 3.5" drive sleds to 2.5". I found a cheap model on Amazon made by Orico, works great.

Thanks for responding - did you RAID your SSDs?

Yes I did -- RAID 0. Fired up the GRAID configurator and it was pretty quick. I back up my RAID to slower USB storage at night; not working taking the ht on storage with two disks at Raid 1.

Nice...what speeds did you hit?

490 Write/520 Read. Not great, but a little better than the previous speeds I was seeing with the HDDs (mid 300s). I was expecting more and I have an email in to GTech support plus a thread going on these boards trying to figure out why it's not faster. It might be a limitation of the PCI interface.
