Fickle I know but……….

It’s taken ages for somebody to have a device that complements the Pro. Need more though.

I am assuming a setup like this would be overkill for an overflowing iPhoto and iTunes music/video library? What would be appropriate for an 8-12TB storage solution to house iTunes media and photos for streaming to Apple TV, assuming a future-proof life of around 5-6 years?

You could make that argument all day long with just about anything. You can build your own high end computer for much less than you can purchase a Mac Pro.

Some people don't want to dink around with putting together their own setup and are willing to pay extra to avoid hassle. This product is for those people.

Not relevant when it's a hard drive enclosure. You could buy any number of non-Thunderbolt equivalents for even less. If someone didn't want to buy the drives and enclosure separately and assemble it themselves, they could pay a company to pre-assemble it beforehand. A complete system and external storage are a different thing entirely. It's NOTHING like the Hackintosh VS Mac Pro argument because it's nothing more than a bunch of SATA/power connectors in an enclosure with RAID features and dual Thunderbolt in place of eSATA, Gigabit or USB 3.0.

Looks horrible

Are they attempting to compliment the mac pro form factor? It certainly does the opposite. A square black box would look better than this design.

More of a complement than this tho right?

Maybe, but that warranty is nowhere near as long as the G-Tech one. Not that I'm a fan, but I've seen them replace failed drives overnight with their RMA process and the enclosure has a much longer warranty as well than the OWC one. It just depends what you're looking for.

I’m just after something that looks nice as well as being functional.
