I need to buy a new external backup drive and have the 250GB G-Tech G-Drive and the 320GB OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro as two options. I'm going to be using the FW800 interface on my Macbook Pro.

I've read the G-Tech is noiseless since it works without a fan, but he OWC seems like the better deal since it has a 320GB 16mb buffer vs the 250GB 8mb buffer.

The only thing i'm sure about is the pricepoint for each, other than that I need some help with this decision.

How many threads around the same subject are you going to post?

Get the Mercury Elite Pro, they use Samsung Barracudas 7200.10 and are covered by a 2 year warranty (the unit) + 3 year warranty for the HD (total of 5 years).
