I remember seeing this a few years back, but I agree with others that it should be brought back up for the "new" generations. Between this and the performa aquariums, Apple Hardware has some interesting second usages.

Of course, the G5, with its aluminum case, would hold the cold better.

Good idea in theory, but I believe Aluminum transfers heat and cold better, meaning it is not a good insulator.
Besides the double walled case (metal inside steel) of the G3 has added insulation.

To bad my G3 works and I like it, otherwise I would try to build one too.
