Hi all, I'm having a disastrous day with my ageing G3 (blue and white powerpc). I tried to install a wireless router earlier, inserted the cd rom and no icon appeared on the desktop. I decided to restart, and left the cd rom in by mistake. I've managed to eject it now, but all that happens at boot up is the chime followed by a briefly powered monitor which then switches itself off again after about 2 seconds. It doesn't seem like boot up is completing without video as the usual G3 processor noises don't continue beyond the point of the monitor switching off.. The only other strange thing I've noticed previously and fairly recently is the cursor being blue rather than white for the first few minutes after boot up. The machine is a 400 MHz running OSX 10.3.9.
Remedies tried so far have been booting in safe mode, booting from cd rom drive with diskwarrior and techtool pro and trying to boot with command + c which apparently shows all available booting options. I've also zapped the PRAM to no avail..
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Many thanks
Jonny

One other thing..the power button doesn't need to be depressed for very long to switch the machine off, which isn't normally the case, which maybe means that it's not getting far into the bootup process??
