I downloaded this MAC OS 10.2 instalaltion CD from torrents and they say it is for iMac G3 500 MHZ including (I have 500 Mhz version).

Regarding Linux Ubuntu, here is what I get when use command "fdisk -l":

P.S. BTW, I thought Linux should mount partitions automatically, especially when they are FAT32/NTFS partiotions (which is my case because I took this HDD from my old PC computer for testing this mac)

You're absolutely sure that it was the retail disk that was downloaded right? Could be a bum torrent.

I do not see any difference between the previos (original mac) configuration and this one (that I have created). I just changed the old IDE-cable to the new one, without 5V DC power in it.

Here is what I get in MacOS 9.2.2 installation. I suppose this is because of the incorrect setup of master/slave configuration:

Can you please clarify, if I have full-size windows partition on this drive will I be able to deltee the partition and create mac-partition during the installation or I need to put the disk to the PC computer and remove it manually before the installation?

----------

Dustman, thank you for your concern. I gave up trying that 10.2 and started with 9.2.2 Which works fine for me now, but I stuck with partition/disk choosing at the moment. Hope I will fix it soon by setting the master/slave configuration correctly.

Sorry my friend if that is not a legit copy of osx, you will not get much help.

I will buy it after I successfully install it. I'm sure I will have 30 days to register and enter a valid serial number :)

mac OS X has no serial numbers its not shitdows u no

im not sure about your mac but u may need a Firmware update to install OS X

I'm not sure about this either, but If i remember right, the firmware update was only required for Tiger, and you have to be booted off OS9 to do it.

Drive Setup does not see it at all :(
Is there any way to check if mac sees the hard drive without booting from installation cd and waiting until the setup loads each time I change the configuration of the drives? It takes aproximately 5 minutes each time is there any way like on PC to enter BIOS to check what hard drives does mac see at the moment?
