The flashing LED on an ADC display is an error code. I don't think that one is inverter failure. Possibly USB failure because the USB ports are active and bootable on ADC displays. I suggest using a search engine to find out exactly which error that is.

The USB ports work fine after an OS is booted. And I've already done that. Apple's website states that a backlight error was detected. Also, as I said, the USB ports used to work at boot before the firmware update. I guess I should've mentioned that the error light existed then, too.

Thing is, I don't have another Mac. At all. I tend to dislike Apple, but I've ALWAYS wanted a PowerPC-Based Mac. The iMac G4, Power Mac G4, and Power Mac G5 are all very attractive to me. I'm aware of the compatability issues but they just seem like so much fun to me. My friend had this G4 Cube, he got it along with an old IBM thinkcentre from a friend. and so I traded him my Inspiron 530 for it, seeing as I never used it anyway, and he wanted it as bad as I wanted the cube lol. Anywho, If you could link to a reasonably-priced Power Mac G4, I'd appreciate it. This Cube is in great condition, and I even have the ADC 17' Apple Studio Display to go with it, If you know someone who'd want one. I may put in on Ebay, but I'd like to secure another PowerPC mac first.

This boot disc issue is beginning to be damn pain, though. Oh and I forgot to mention-I tried the firmware update already. It said It was already installed and wouldn't allow me to proceed.

There are G4 towers all over Ebay if you want one. If you want something a little more usable, G5 towers are (almost) as cheap with much more power and capability. Any dual G5 will blow a G4 out of the water. You should be able to find one under $80.

I haven't been able to find either one in working condition on ebay for 100$ or less :(

Huh. That's unusual. Maybe check craigslist? In the UK Ebay we have dual G5s going for around £50 and decent condition Quads for around £100 (when they actually pop up).

None in my location, sadly, and if i were to buy internationally, shipping would cost more than the product :(

Learned something new there, wondered why the power LED was flashing on the acrylic ADC one I'm testing having installed Leopard on the Mac mini. Given the top of the screen is dimmer than the bottom at the boot screen I guess the top backlight has failed.
