I wouldn't buy any in that shape. Stock config except RAM and this ugly thing around logo - not worth the money they ask. RAM is cheap nowadays. I'd look for better deal.
But it seems you bought it already?
I almost bought it, so it's not worth the bother then? :(

Personally I'd want something that didn't have such cosmetic damage. Part of the Cube's charm was its looks.

Also, you'll need a power supply for it if you propose to use it at all (plus keyboard, mouse and monitor, which presumably you'd want from the same period as the Cube). The power supply may even be a specific design intended for the Cube and perhaps only that particular design will suffice. I'm not sure.

Hmm... they said it came with the power supply anyways. Had it not had the cosmetic damage by the Apple logo, I would have bought it; I wonder what the Tom guy who now has a Mac Pro has to say on this subject matter.

Not for collection. For spare parts only but certainly not for such amount of money. In this shape and config I wouldn't pay more than £35-40.
Yeah but, it's a 12 year old Machine; you're not going to get a G4 Cube in mint condition today? :p

I've seen Cubes for sale via eBay that were in excellent condition, complete with monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers, but they were selling for in the region of £300. The demand for these machines in effect sets the price. The Cube you were thinking of buying does not compare to top-condition models, and does not come with monitor etc, hence the price difference.

I suggest you simply check out the likes of eBay diligently and consistently over the coming months, and maybe you'll find a Cube that's in better condition and that also meets your budget. Patience can be a virtue. I'm happy with my clamshell iBook and I waited until price, condition of the laptop, and the seller's credentials met my requirements.

I mean, I trust them that the Mac works which is great ;P It's the cosmetic damage that is a bit of a shame :p

If I was to buy it now for 75 pounds (they wanted 100 but they want 75 for it now); would I be able to get 60-70 quid for it if I wanted to sell it?

Hmm... I did buy my G5 for the case, the case isn't 100% in good condition, but this Cube seems to be in worse cosmetic condition than my Powermac G5.

What to do? :(

Do not buy it. You should buy at least a cube without too much damage near the logo. Wait and look.
I guess that's what's putting me off, had there be no damage near the logo at-least, I would buy it. A bit of a shame really. :(

There's one on Ebay for 180 pounds in pretty good condition/no cosmetic damage. Should I buy it?

IIRC, the price is fair considering extra RAM and cosmetic damage. US folk need to remember that mac prices here are way higher when you convert between the two currencies.

Personally I wouldn't buy it, even if it's slightly cheaper than other cubes. Just not worth it to me, you'll need to make your own mind up. "Should I buy it?" is not something we can answer.

If you wait long enough you'll find a nice one a decent price, the thrill is in the chase ;)

I could put the G4 Cube in my set-up so that the logo isn't shown? Just like how I have my G5 in my set-up. Just a thought :p

Of course you could. I think that's madness, but it's your machine and I guess if you've committed to purchasing it there's not much you can do.

So if people viewing my set-up can't view the cosmetic damage or are unaware of it what's the problem? :p

Besides, I guess I could always Photoshop the cosmetic damage out of the photo anyways D:

For good reason too. I wouldn't have bought one when they were released much rather now.

Sounds kind of pointless to me. Go buy a lamp or something with your 100 quid.
It's a unique computer and had a short life?

I hate to be the guy that always rails against people who think it's worth owning one of the early decade Macs. But you have to understand that these machines are almost unusable in regards to the modern internet.

If you have the money burning a hole in your pocket then sweet, go for it. But if you have any little doubts it's best you give it a week and see how you feel then.

I'm on my Cube right now...

Well, why would someone want to own a 1950s car? For the nostalgia and the design?

I've used my Cube on the internet and as I posted before, the performance is surprisingly snappy.

I think owning a PPC computer shouldn't be looked down on, and for the Cube there's lots of reasons for it.

Back in the day when I bought the G4 Cube new, I thought it was going to set a trend, but alas it failed to fully grab the consumers interest (being priced at a powermac level with no expansion was the major reason)

I'm going to purchase the G4 Cube, who cares about the cosmetic damage. :) :apple:

There's a bit of stuff by the logo... lol. I'm just wondering whether it's worth it to buy it, so I can own the design like I did with my Powermac G5:

Part of me cried looking at that damage. Ouch. If you don't mind it though, go for it.

Case in point: I've been looking for a Next Cube for years. All that I found were priced incredibly high. Many didn't work anymore, and many were so beat-up that they looked like they were dragged behind a truck or something.

Sure, it's an 'X' years old computer, but if you really want one, there will be other opportunities. Heck, I heard someone bought a 'fat Mac' they found at a garage sale that was one of the batch that went as special gifts to VIP types. It had no serial number as I remember, just a name. They got it for a song, and the guy apologized for the high price! You just never know what you might find, and when...

I'm also looking for a MicroVAX III in the BA123 World Box configuration, in case anyone happens to know where one can be located... ;-)

Actually I did 3 years ago. I've paid equivalent of 65 quid. On my local market Cubes are rarity, bought mine from a friend.
