What version of OS 9 is it? Is OS 9 on the OS X partition or it's own?

It's 9.2.2

OS 9 is actually installed on a totally separate drive from OSX. The OS 9 drive is 80gb and divided into two separate 40gb partitions. The OSX drive is also 80gb and is in 1 partition.

I currently have the OSX drive set as the master(and on the bottom) and the OS9 drive set as the slave(on top). I just changed this around today-originally the OS9 drive was the master, but wanted the machine to start into OSX by default.

OS 9 is a bit before my time... I only played with it a couple of times. To me it sounds like it is not loading the appropriate extension when first booting OS 9 and therefore just hangs.

Well, I was out wandering today and picked up a 20" ADC Cinema Display.

The USB ports on this one work(the ones on my Studio display don't), and was pleasantly surprised to find that OS9 booted just fine using the Cinema display.

Unfortunately, there are some bad pressure marks on the screen of the display. The place where I bought it has a 24 hour return policy on electronics, so I think that I'm going to get my $40 back and shop for another one(there's a 23" on Craigslist that includes the ADC-to-DVI adapter for $50, although it's a bit of a trip for me).

The ADC-DVI adapter is worth the trip. Those alone go for $80+ on eBay. Add another $100 for the 23" display and you've got a nice machine for a good price.

I went back and checked, and the Craigslist one is only a 20". I agree, though, that it's worth the trip if nothing else for the adapter. Plus, the display is boxed.

I'm waiting to hear back-it's too bad I didn't look earlier as my dad was actually up in that general area today.

Are we talking about the ADC-to-DVI or DVI-to-ADC adapter? If memory serves me, there have been two adapters. The ADC-to-DVI adapter (so you can hook up DVI displays to ADC) is just a simple dongle, not unlike the current Mini-DisplayPort adapters and all the others before it. I don't know the prices for these so maybe they do cost that much on eBay.

The other is a DVI-to-ADC adapter (to allow connecting ADC displays to DVI), the expensive one which includes a power supply for the display and splits all the different signals that run within ADC into their own cables.

I returned the "bad" cinema display, and amazingly enough the USB ports decided to come alive again on the Studio Display that was the subject of this thread originally. I can now also control the brightness on the monitor, something which I understand is tied to the USB functions and which I was not able to do before.

It's now working fine in both OSX and OS9. I can't help but wonder if the dead USB hub in it had something to do with OS9 not liking it.
