I had a problem with the display of a crt imac. Got it repaired after the warranty was over!

Always write to Apple, calling by phone will leave you without any evidence and names of the answering persons. Just write - it pays of later in the process. Maybe you can call to get a job number, but afterwards write all info down (email/fax) also if they already promised good things.

IMHO

I myself have the worst luck with computers. I am a PC user who doesn't have the cash to get a new machinne, PC or Mac.

To me, your hardware prolems sound like a bad power situation. I would replace the power supply and run your system through a high quality UPS.

Actually, it does get better with time. I got my iBook in August of 2001. By November the squeaking was unbearable. So, I called Apple, and like everyone else, I laughed when they told me it gets better with time. Now, almost a year and a half later, it maybe squeaks once a month. Just give it time. I found that opening it really fast over and over again massages the hinges, reducing the squeaking.

Thanks dude. I've been opening and closing my ibook fifty times in a row every time i think of it, and maybe it's getting better (but imagine under normal use how many YEARS it would take for the problem to fix itself!)
