Hi,

I tried starting up my G4 this evening and although the startup button lit up nothing happened. There is obviously power going to the machine for this button to light up but why won't it start up? Might there be a fuse that has blown?

Any help would be gratefully received as the Mac has all my work & music on it 🙁

thanks,
Rich

PS here are the specs:

Machine Name: Power Mac G4
Machine Model: PowerMac3,4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (11.3)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 533 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 896 MB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.1.8f5

If you have access to another Mac and a Firewire cable, use Target Disk Mode to back up all your data. Can you try booting from the OSX restore discs? I doubt it'll get any further, but it might be worth a try. 🙂

Thanks for all your advice but it turns out that my PRAM battery is flat.
Everything has been fixed by spending $15 on this 🙂

thanks,
R 😉
