Gee, I just got a non-Mac edition FX5200 to put in my G4. Any ideas? I need to be able to flash it within OS X because I don't haz a computer that runs Windows and has an AGP slot. Can't terminal do ANYTHING to the card's ROM?

All the "Leopard won't run on XXX G4" is a bunch of hooey, alarmist nonsense.

I've got it running on a 450 Mhz G4 Sawtooth. I even had a RAM stick go bad and it still started with only 128 Megs...however it did run VERY poorly.

So simple, a caveman can do it.

yep i tried that too, with 2Gbs of ram in the machine, but no dice, it just didnt want to know

Bennieboy©,

You must be doing something incorrectly, or mixing something up. You need to start the computer under 867MHz in target disk mode, and install 10.5 on the computer over 867MHz. You just select the HD that is from the machine under 867MHz when it prompts you as to which drive you'd like to install too.

It's the exact same as installing onto an external FireWire drive

ahhhh, i didnt have another mac at the time to do the target disk mode, it dont matter now, my G4 was the first Mac i ever had, early last year lol, but it was annoying seeing reports of people getting 10.5 to load on similar systems to mine
