Well, I just ordered an ATI 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition (w/256MB) off the ATI website for $269 (with the 1010 promo code) to upgrade the 9600 that came with my dual 2GHz Powermac. Do I need to do anything before swapping the video cards as far as OS X is concerned, or will the upgrade simply be transparent from a reconfiguration standpoint?

Also, I noticed that there is a set of ATI drivers/tools out for this video card on the ATI website dated 01/2005. Had anyone installed/used these? Are they worth me getting and installing?

Thanks in advance for any feedback I can get!

You can simply shutdown your PowerMac, swap grfx cards, and boot again.
Mac OS X has the drivers already installed.

It always is a good idea to use ATi's latest drivers and tools, especially as these have some neat features like 3D override settiings.

If you really dare you can also try overclocking the card using this little util .

BE WARNED! All overclocking acts can seriously damage the grfx card! If you use it, use it carefully!
