G5 causes monitor to not respond???

I'm using the bog standard (as far as im aware) G5 grapics card wih he 2x DVI ports,
I put a vga-dvi converter to my monitorand it seemed to say "not suppoted,"
it has a dvi connection on the back of my monitor as well, should I just get a dvi lead?
When plugging in my tvvia vga connection it also said not supported,
please help me as im stuck using a windows 7 laptop until I can display my G5 😕
