G5 iMac 1.6 Memory = "Low Density?"

I installed two 1GB DDR PC3200 400MHz 124x4 (high density) modules into the G5 iMac. On boot, there were two beeps and the fans were on "turbo" speed.

Does the iMac require 8x64 (low density) ram?
