Yes, Nehalem is a prime time for those still stuck with G5s to update.
And a prime time for those of us who never had G5s to just get one!
I and many other PPC enthusiasts are waiting anxiously for eBay to be flooded with maxed-out Quad G5s.
One man's 50-pound paperweight is another man's tinker-toy.
My G5 replacement will be a Mini or an iMac I am afraid. I still can't justify the cost of a Pro no matter how hard I try.
What makes a G5 better than intel?

I don't miss my G5 dual 2.0GHz at all. My quad core Hackintosh is WAY more powerful, uses less energy, and cost less to build than I got selling the G5 on Craigslist.

Either that, or he's not working hard enough to be worthy of needing one.
Well, I am a programmer and systems administrator by trait. Typing text and small compiles just doesn't need the horse power like it used to. My two primary workstations (the G5 and my AMD rig) fit the bill nicely for working at home and my Macbook is fantastic for taking to the office.
My every once and a while movie edit / encode doesn't warrant 8 cores and ECC ram.
Nonsense! You just haven't figured out how to justify it properly yet.
Love my new MP, coming from a pimped-out 2.0DP G5 ; however, my comp before the G5 was a B/W G3 (!) - huge difference.
I doubt I'll ever have that sort of experience again when getting a new machine.
Now if only software would catch up to the hardware capabilities,...
