I even tried opening up the old psu, cleaning it then installed it but still the same, when the power button is pressed it makes a clicking noise, fans try to start but they dont. The computer clicks also when the plug is, plugged into the wall socket.

Hi all. It has been a while since i posted in here and i thought i could update you guys on how its going.

I gave up on the "new" PSU and ordered a another refurbished PSU which arrived in the post today. I installed it and the computer is behaving exactly the same as it did with the previous refurbished PSU (which i thought was faulty).

Safe to say now that the probelm is not the power supply.

To summerise the symptoms.

After pressing the power button, the LED does not stay lit.
The fans all start and i hear the hard disk spin.
There is no boing and no warning LEDS er lit on the mother board.

The computer doesnt boot.

I have tried replacing the PSU,
Resetting PMU
Starting with one CPU
Starting without the graphics card
taking out excess ram and starting with only one brick

The computer done nothing different and started in exactly the same manner when i doen the above.

Could it be the motherboard?
ANy ideas before i sell it for parts?

Kind regards
Rob

Yes, could be the logic board.
I'm fairly sure that you have eliminated the power supply...
The service manual states to try reseating the processors, then replace the bottom proc first, then the top proc. Then, if still no help, the logic board.

Thanks Delta Mac, I will try the CPU replacement again today like you suggested then maybe start looking at finding a replacement logic board.

Cheers 🙂
