Im thinking about purchasing a refurb 1.6ghz G5 and i was wondering whether it has enough power to do the things that i want.. here they are:

1.) Movie editing and DVD burning
2.)File Server
3.)Music server (optical output to speakers)
4.)Photoshop
5.)perhaps a webserver

also does anyone have a 15" studio display.. how is it are there any problems with it (thinking of purchasing one off ebay)

I just received my refurb 1.6 this week, and I'm quite pleased. It's xbench is 201, which is about double what I got in my 1GHz G4 Cube. I haven't done any video stuff on it yet, but I'm expecting it will be much better than the G4 was. The machine has an optical in and out, but I don't know how to use them. The other items on your list are not CPU-intensive. I think for $1399 it's a pretty good deal; mine is just like new as far as I can tell. The only bad thing about it is the large size of the case. There is a little fan noise, but it's not distracting.

When you say the "15" Studio Display", which one is that? I have the 15" LCD, the one with the easel-type stand, and it works fine.
