Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I'm not too sure where else this would go... so basically I'm trying to gain root/admin privileges for my iphone so that i can screw with an app, but I feel as though there is no need to jailbreak? all I need to do is change the privileges on my computer so I can modify a couple files.
other mentionables:

no, there is no lock button or box when i press "get info" on my mac. it simply says i may only read the files. using iexplorer to mount iphone as drive.

That is the whole purpose of a JB.
To gain root/admin privileges on your iphone.
Without a JB you cannot accomplish that.
But there is a tethered JB for an iphone 4 on 6.1.3 if you want to consider that option.

I have been considering.. not to get into details because this thread would go offtrack, but for complicated reasons i cannot back up my phone. would tethered leave my phone useless if i turned it on without a computer? or is the jb semi-tethered. thanks for the replies
