Just wanted to chime in. I have both 4s and the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. L

I use the 4S as my main phone.

The galaxy nexus is a good phone but Samsung has horrible CDMA antenna.

I don't get LTE 4G on my Verizon galaxy Nexus at home but get 2-3 bars of LTE on my iPad or my buddy's droid razr.

If two Verizon devices get LTE and my gnex doesn't. Than the problem clearly points to the gnex wear antenna.

Just look it up how many complaints there are about the antenna on the CDMA gnex. The gsm gnex antenna is fine. Hopefully maybe a software update will improve the antenna quality but I am not holding my breath.

Fortunately for me I rarely use the gnex for voice or text. I used a total of 15 minutes on the gnex the past month.

Now with 4 hours of screen time no way you get 15 hours battery.

I know that this statement wasn't directed towards me... but 4 hours of screen time during a 15 hour cycle? Piece of cake. I'd still be at 30-40% and that's on 4G the entire time. :)

Seriously the MAXX is changing the game when it comes to battery life and I think we will see a lot better batteries coming in all devices soon.

The game they changed is killed with MotoBlur.

LOL, nope. Try making 25-30 phone calls during day...send 50+ texts...read dozen emails...use navigation...and surf the web...no stock Nexus will ever get 5.5 hours screen time with that kind of use.

Ur phone it's rooted and with custom rom and kernel ??

Hmm interesting let me check out real world results.

Iphone4s

Image

Old slow Motorola xoom, iphone4s kills it in benchmarks.

Image

That's weird! Old slow Android has more the double the fps?! Strange!

Now that's from within a browser but both are for easy comparison of fps. Regardless who is playing html5 games? But with ios's lack of USB hosting its a no comparison in my opinion too but not for the iPhone.

...I'm really not sure if you're a troll who purposely tried to mislead us, or if you just don't know anything about the technology involved. The fact that you omitted the link you were on is an indication you knew what you were doing, especially considering the page title is, "JSNES: A Javascript NES emulator", but I won't accuse you of anything.

To point out the obvious, the Venturebeat article is referring to HTML5. The supposed future of mobile apps and games.

Your screenshots depict a game in JavaScript. I am currently unaware of any publication or entity that considers JavaScript apps and games to be the future of mobile.

What's MotoBlur? Yes the RAZR does have a skin over it as does all Android phones other then Nexus phones, but the old overbearing MotoBlur is long gone. I'd say out of all the skins right now for example HTC Sense or Samsung TouchWiz the Motorola skin is actually very minimal compared to some. A few of the things that come installed like MotoCast and Smart Actions are actually great ideas.

I understand that no matter what I say won't change your opinion that the RAZR MAXX is a horrible phone, but my MAXX will still be singing along for hours and hours when those other phones are dead.

Curious, how do you have two Verizon phones ? I mean it is the same phone# ? I know on GSM carriers like T-Mobile + ATT you can just pop the sim card in and out of any phone and switch between them daily, but with CDMA phones, aren't you stuck with the phone that is activated currently ? or can you switch back and forth easily on the same # ?

Do you also own a iPhone4S ?

Yeah the MAXX line has peaked my interest for sure, and if the rumors are true, the Droid-Fighter is due April 12th, will be Motorola's first Android 4.0 ICS phone, with a 720p HD screen, and still be thin, but with that long lasting battery.

From what I know, you need to get a new sim everytime you want to use the gnex. You can switch between lte devices however by just swapping the sim.

Well if it does appear that would be a good one to look at since it will come with ICS pre-installed and a 720p screen. No I don't own an iPhone 4S. I just couldn't bring myself to live with an outdated Verizon 3G EVDO only phone when I live in the middle of a Verizon 4G LTE area. There was no way I was switching to AT&T since they have spotty coverage here and are not likely to bring LTE to rural areas like mine for a long long time.

The other big factor is that I am grandfathered into unlimited data. That is a BIG deal on 4G and I didn't want to lose it switching to another carrier.

But the Verizon iPhone 4S doesn't have a SIM, or does it ?

So no one would have both an iPhone 4S + Galaxy Nexus on Verizon ? I mean on the same # obviously. Of course if you have cash to burn you could have two different lines for yourself and two different phones, but I have never met anyone who would do that.

Yeah sometime I envy GSM carriers, would be sort of cool to just pull out your SIM from one phone and pop into another and good to go. You could have a Nexus...iPhone...Windows-Mango, all on the one phone #, but just switch out the SIM, and use any phone you want that day.

Isn't there some option in My Verizon that lets you change your phone by entering the new ESN number?

But if I were you, I'd wait until the Nexus gets a software update which addresses the poor signal. Then visit the android forums and see what people had to say about it.

I too have the 4s and the VZW Nexus. VZW tier 2 tech support has been working on an open ticket of mine for weeks, due to poor reception with the Nexus. I do not receive calls, calls are dropped and texts are only delivered when I "wake" the phone. Other LTE devices in the same area have 2-3 bars and the iPhone has 3-4 bars. Nexus signal reads -113 to -111.

For those asking about going back and forth between a 3G and LTE device it is a PITA. The LTE sim card dies after 48 hours of no use.

well, in case of Galaxy Nexus, it was easy.. 5 mins of work.

But you are right, android is more for tinkering, iphone is more for people who can't/don't fiddle with their gadgets.. each serving a different segment of the market.

Yea, you have to root and rom just to get your phone to work right. A big reason I got fed up with Android in the first place.

Screen size would be a tough adjustment for me. I have gotten so used to these larger screens, don't know if I can go back down to the tiny 3.5" size again. After my first two iPhone's I went to the Nexus-One with 3.7" screen...Nexus-S with 4" screen...Galaxy SII with 4.3" screen...Galaxy Nexus with 4.6" screen.

Each phone getting a larger screen, and I am loving it. I will admit the Galaxy SII at 4.3" was probably the perfect size, the Galaxy Nexus is border line too large at 4.6", but the Nexus-S at 4" was too small, and iPhone fees like a wristwatch screen. Yeah 4.3" is just right to me.

I'm pretty sure the J is the emulator. The game was used from

http://www.html5minigames.com/?q=taxonomy/term/8

I can do a different game that doesn't have the letter J any where in it if you like. The results will be the same.

I was just looking for something that displayed FPS. Since I have both devices if you have a link to something I can post pics of performance.

The link was about another useless benchmark test. Here is how useless benchmarks are.

My phone didn't get any slower. So why the difference, oh yeah cause benchmarks suck and only real world performance matters. And the best way I find is actual FPS.

I have an og razr and they don't use blur anymore according to motorola. The is a ui over gingerbread but it's fairly light in comparison to others. A lot of the bloat is pretty useful stuff like smart actions.

I won't say it's the best cause I prefer vanilla android but it's really not that bad.

I think Motorola is going in the right direction with offering good things with their ui. Smart actions, hd Netflix, etc. If I were to ever get another Android device I think I'd actually miss some stuff they offer.

I don't disagree with your point about real world performance vs benchmarks. It's a valid point. The benchmark in question, however, deals with html5. Showing the fps from a JavaScript emulator doesn't counter an html5 benchmark.

I'm currently unaware of any html5 games online that provide the fps numbers, but I dont think it really matters. By the time html5 games become the norm, we will no longer be using any of the devices available today :)

have both in the household and in my opinion the only thing that iPhone does better than Galaxy Nexus is the camera, which is total rubbish on gnex and fantastic on the iphone.

Not a fan of iOS on the small screen, works way better on the bigger screen of the tablet. Android is the total opposite - great on the phone, crap on tablets.

Agree. I really think the only reason if you're an Android fan or user to get the iPhone 4S is the camera. Everything else the two are virtually equals on.
