With all of the damn settings they have on this phone, you would think that would be a given!

A launcher basically just changes the home screen and app drawers. It does not change anything in regards to s-pen.

I use nova and try to make my phone look pretty close to stock, all of the s-pen features work.
Hah yeah. I'm a lefty too and switched the keys around but it felt weird so reverted pretty quickly.

Probably too accustomed to the standard layout and largish hands means the reach to the back button isn't too much trouble.

810 Note 4 variant in the works?

http://www.sammobile.com/2014/12/09...n-810-being-tested-for-major-korean-carriers/

The*Galaxy Note 4*is currently available*in two processor variants, the one with an*Exynos 7 Octa*processor and the other with a*Qualcomm Snapdragon 805*chipset. It looks like Samsung is working on one more variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with an updated processor. Our sources have revealed to us that a new variant of the Galaxy Note 4 with aSnapdragon 810*SoC is being tested for some major carriers in South Korea. These carriers might be LG+, SKT, and Olleh, but we are not too sure about the names. Unlike the Snapdragon 805, which features a 32-bit quad-core CPU and Adreno 420 GPU, the Snapdragon 810 SoC uses a 64-bit octa-core CPU working in*ARM’s big.LITTLE configuration and an newer Adreno 430 GPU. It might be a few months before this updated variant is released since the Snapdragon 810 is not completely ready for mass production yet. Earlier this week, it was reported that the*Snapdragon 810 might be delayed, but Qualcomm has rubbished such claims.

It would be interesting to see how the Snapdragon 810 variant performs when compared to the variant with an Exynos 7 Octa processor since both the SoCs feature similar CPU configuration. Samsung is even working to*equip the*Exynos SoC with LTE Cat. 10 connectivityfor download speeds of up to 450Mbps, which might be used in the*Galaxy S6.

I wish more manufacturers would do this. I'm all for having a mid cycle refresh. Other industries do this all the time, why not mobiles? As a consumer, I would love to have the best processor available at the time of purchase. Totally makes sense.

----------

I'm curious as to what industries that work in 6-12 month cycles do this? The car manufacturing industry does it, but their generation typically lasts 5-6 years, so they would normally do a tiny update to the aesthetic every three years; changing the grill here and there.

I can't seeing phone OEMS ever justifying changing it up mid generation (aka 6 months). Generally, performance is not going to go leaps and bounds so much that say that a Snapdragon 805 will feel sluggish to the general user compared to the 810.

DO NOT bother talking the Snapdragon 810 Note 4, as it will probably go the same way as the Snapdragon 805 Note 3 LTE-A, 805 Galaxy S5, Snapdragon 800 Galaxy S4 LTE-A etc...and be released in a few countries with limited supply.

Samsung do this yearly now yet people just don't seem to be catching on to the trend. They have been doing this since the Galaxy S2 HD LTE. The Snapdragon 810 Note 4 will probably be released in South Korea, Germany and a few other countries.

Just wanted to update my lag saga with the Note 4. Replaced it under warranty because the GPS was very flaky. New one is very responsive, very little lag. Email still opens VERY slowly, but I've noticed that before I had emails uploaded it was fast, I think the issue is with the app and having too many emails, although by the same token no matter how many emails on my iPhone it still opened instantly. Camera to gallery is pretty fast, maybe a couple of seconds at the most. Recent apps is pretty darn fast as well, I can have 10 or so apps open and recent apps takes about 1-2 seconds to come up, not bad at all.

So either I had a faulty Note 4, or this one will begin to slow down over time. I've done factory resets and had the same experience where it would slow down over time, so I hope this time is different. I'm also keeping my eye on if I can connect any specific apps to when it begins to slow down.

The recent apps lag is getting to me. Hoping Lollipop fixes it.

How's Hangouts for you? For some reason I get a little pause every time I'm sending a message. Is that just on my end?

Hope this one isn't a lemon like your last one.

My only issue is I find the display can be overly sensetive, I find myself opening apps sometimes when scrolling the app drawer and homescreens, and I have checked the sensitivity option (glove mode) in settings and it is off.
Other than that, no issues.

It's improved over the Note 3, though. I get the occasional bezel click but nowhere near as bad as before.

I swapped out my S5 today for a Note 4 tonight.

This was after over an hour of going back and forth playing between the 6+, Note 4 and Note 4 Edge.

The 14 day countdown begins. Let's see how this goes.

Impressions inbound tomorrow.

Hope this one works out better. Quick suggestion - if you pass on the email app and install the new gmail client - that allows you to add a third party email account. Simply use that and see if it's any better - that way you will find out if the stock email client is contributing to your issue :)

Good luck and hope this one works out better :)

Note 4 is my 1st phablet to, coming from the super lite and pretty compact GS4.
Note 4's size takes some getting used to, but after a few weeks you'll be fine.

I've had mine since mid October, took me about 2weeks and I was using it one-handed as I would my S4.

Must say, each day I am finding the SPen more useful, a feature that I am loving is Smart Select, I can select parts of images/posters etc...And the phone will segment the selection by what's available e.g. I wanted the phone number on a poster that was on FB, instead of having to memorise or take a screenshot I pulled out the SPen, did Smart Select, it broke the poster down into little segments, one of them being Contacts and gave me the option to simply save the number as a contact, call it etc... Just brilliant :D wish my iPad could that.

About a bit over a month in with mine and I still LOVE it!

I have to say I discovered a really cool feature that I didn't know about when I was at my parent's house the other week.

Side sync 3.0.

When I travel to my parent's house or am in a secure wifi situation, I love this ability to put my Note on my tab S! You just sync them together and you can even bloody well make calls, scroll through your entire phone's contents etc on your tablet! This way you don't need to have both right next to you if you want to just use the screen real estate!

I also completely hijacked their cable and TV using smart remote! I liked the way they laid out the shows better than the eternal scrolling you get from the cable box menu!

I tethered it fairly frequently when I was on course for a month to my tab S and it was pretty fast wifi considering where I was.

I am super impressed with this phone and am constantly discovering new things with it!

If I had ANYTHING negative to say about it, is that I do find that I restart the device more than I would like, however I use airplane mode a LOT on this device and I think sometimes that it gibbles something and requries a restart.

This was my primary internet device for one whole month and it did NOT disappoint!

Takes some damn good pics too!

Hangouts was very very slow on my previous Note 4. It's still kind of slow, I mean it opens in 2-3 seconds the first time but the stock messaging app is instant. It definitely pauses for me when I send messages as well.

New Note 4 user. I have been a vocal critic of TouchWiz, and still don't like it, but what I've realized is that owning a phablet and really using TW features like S-pen, multi-window etc really changes things.

If you add in the replaceable batteries, sd card unto 128GB, builtin apps like Hancom Office etc, then it changes from being a regular phone to a much more powerful productivity device. And it becomes much easier to overlook the lag and relative ugliness of TouchWiz.

The call quality is great, speaker is not bad (after all the bad things I read about it), screen is best in class and really amazing, and camera is very nice (though haven't had much time to test it).

If I had root (Verizon) then 90% of this could be very easily fixed with a custom rom or even with root + Xposed.

Using Hancom Office + DocuSign + Smart Select + SPen = One hell of a productivity tool, I must say, I am using the SPen far more than I thought I would, these things truly set this phone apart from the competition!
