Anyone own one? Do any of you recommend it over the iPad mini?

Your input is appreciated.

Bleh, wow that bezel is huge. I'm still waiting for someone to compete with the beauty of the iPad minis bezel.

I love Android on a phone, but it seems like no one can quite compete with the iPad just yet.

I think you hit the nail on the head.......the Android tablets are just not quite there yet.....

It's all about the apps.....there are so many amazingly optimized iPad apps out there......plus the device is gorgeous - really makes for a great overall experience.

My story is, I bought an rMBP 13" but returned it in lieu of WWDC. But I still had the itch for a new gadget so bought a 16gb ipad mini for $300 at BB (price matched w Target). Just not sure if I rushed and should have researched before purchasing. Note 8 seems like a solid tablet but I know nothing of it.. However, I do own the Note II so they can't be that different.

Anyways, I still plan on getting a rMBP or MBA when they're announced just wanted to hear others opinions on the Note 8.

Apple still has the tablet segment locked down. On a tablet it's all about the apps and androids tablet selection is still quite limited compared to apples. It's getting better though.

First off, you would get it only if you were interested in the S-Pen. Since you have a Note 2, you probably are (I am, as well). Then, it's a nice tablet (I used one for a couple of hours). However, as much as I prefer Android phones (I have the Note 1), Android tablets still haven't progressed as much; the iPad rules. Within a couple of years, Apple better watch out. Android tablets will be much more mature and more optimized (esp tablet app wise).

I bought the note 8.0 yesterday..loving it so far.the pen is amazing and at least unlike the ipad mini it doesn't restrict what you want to do..going to buy an SD card so I can store all the shows and films I want..perfect

From ebay, I'm waiting for it to drop in price to $250-$275 (most of the time, I buy used). Hopefully, sometime in the fall. Like the above poster, let us know your experiences.

Had it about a day now and got to say even though I have an ipad 2 I've been using it as my main Internet usage for the most part.i bought the note 8.0 for an on the go device while still using my ipad for Internet use at home..I've already downloaded a bunch of TV shows and the picture quailty is amazing..colours really do stand out really well.

The s pen is such a great feature.its come to the point where I use it for everything and not just note taking but using it to type on forums,go on Facebook and twitter.sending emails it is great to type with.

The air view with the pen like with the S4 is a great feature to have..the camera is better than I thought it wold be.it takes solid pictures and the screen quailty is pretty decent too.certainly better than the ipad mini.

I ordered an SD card last night so will look forward to putting many TV shows and films on it.i got this device so I can take to work everyday, use the note features with my daily job while watching shows on my break too.

The screen is abig enough size to use as your daily Internet usage everyday..the screen size is bigger in the hand than I thought but its amazing how light it really is.its super light in the hand..

Just waiting for my galaxy note 8.0 book cover case to,arrive.

Any questions about the device let me know and I will try and answer any questions you have if you are considering buying it.

For me it has been a great buy...love watching a TV show while also going on the web and using Facebook and twitter..that is an outstanding feature.

Bare in mind though I don't use alot of games oh the tablets so great selection of apps isn't everything to me. The ones that there are just fine for my usage...the SD card slot is huge for me to add shows and films on..that was the big attraction.

Awesome that you are really enjoying your new Note 8.0. With my limited experience with the Note 8.0, I thought the S-Pen integration was excellent. As I stated before, I'm waiting for a nice price drop.

I understand your position. As great of a tablet it is..the price is alot. Which is why instead of buying it up front I’m basically paying on a month to month basics. I pay £20.99 a month which covers all insurance. Damaged, lost, stolen e.t.c...I’ve also bought a portable wifi system with EE which means I can get wifi anywhere and use my tablet on the go internet wise. Which is also £20.99 a month and you get 3GB of data...so this tablet will really be my tablet on the go where I can go on internet as a please. Which is a great option to have.

I came from the iPad Mini to a Note 8 and posted a thread here in this sub-forum. Basically I think it sets the bar for Android tablets.

Yeah I agree, obviously depends what you use it for but in terms of features and being out to not be restricted I think it's the best tablet out there IMO in terms of a mini size that isn't full sized. Don't see the point of a 10 inch tablet that you take on the go..it needs to be 8 inch to be portable IMO.

I've been looking at this as well. One thing that stopped me was I'm an Amazon Prime member and they don't provide an instant video app for Android devices like they do for idevices. I did write to Amazon and they replied that development is being worked on and they expect it to be available "in the future.", whatever that means.

I will probably hold off making a decision until the new Mini is announced, but I really love most everything about the Note 8.

Can't wait to hear more opinions after your usage.

Bought an iPad 4 to test out and it's nice and all but I still don't know what I'm going to do; and w the new MBA's out, it's made this decision 3x's as hard.
