Tech savvy users increasingly don't like the tiny screens on iPhones. Samsung's phones just provide a better user experience.
Instead they change the design to the ugliest smartphone on the market. The S2 looked good and the S3 didn't. Changing for the sake of change is what lead to that. Also wireless charging xD why don't you look up the definition of wireless charging... no wires. And NFC yeah I see that implemented everywhere I go. Apple puts in features that are useful, not gimmicks (the very odd one is but nothing like samsung) like smart stay etc. The reason Samsung isn't critiqued despite the various flaws the S3 had is because its simply not as big of a company and its brand name probably has a tenth of the recognition of Apple's. Since the S3 has sold quite well it will be interesting to see if the S4 can get some media attention, good or bad.
Samsung is not as big of a company?bud do you have any idea how much Samsung is worth?its almost worth as much as google and is making 20+% gains every 1/4 for the past 2 years.
its market cap is like 230 BILLION right now and they are double of what intel is worth,samung has its own FABS that build chips and there is only a few companies on this whole planet that can do that.

Please, tell us more about your experiences working at Samsung during the redesign phases of the S3.
Okay, if you want to play semantics, then there's no such thing as literally wireless charging. And there never will be because unless your phone charges directly from the sun or the earth or the air, I guess wireless charging will never exist. But, at the end of the day, one can put their smartphone down on a pad, and it will begin charging. The iPhone, as of yet, cannot do that. You can call that feature whatever you want.
Samsung is constantly criticized. Do you live under a rock?

What you should have wrote is "some Tech Savy users" ....
And the statement is true regardless of whether your tech Savy or not. Some users prefer large screens, some small.
Don't start adding labels to groups just to make these wild assumptions / generalisations seem more legit, because they simply aren't.
It's about time respect entered this forum - and people respected others opinions and choices rather than constantly pulling out these falicious statements, calling those that disagree with them fanboys all the rest of the utter nonsense that is perpetuating in the fora section of late.
I can see this forum section being closed, or indeed very restricted in the near future if this isn't addressed by the users of this forum. Much like how the gaming section was a few years back.

And you dont have to work at samsung to know if something looks good or not and the general opinion on the matter shows that most people think the design is rubbish and the S2 is miles better and maybe Samsung have realised that since the S4 looks like it will resemble the S2 design. There we go, changing the design for the sake of it and now changing back to the old design xD
Also wireless charging can work in many ways without the use of wires. Sounds funny doesn't it? You would think that a feature advertised as wireless charging wouldn't have wires aye? Apple will come out with wireless charging and it will be wireless! The wireless charging in the lumia has been available to the iphone since 2010 through an accessory anyway. And apple has many many patents on solar charging.

I love my GS3 but I have to agree with this. (but I also agree that Passbook and a number of other Apple innovations are equally useless)

There will always be useless features you don't use..as good as Siri was to start can't remember the last time I used it.
Didn't a galaxy s3 cover pop up like three days before the s3 event? It may been longer but I remember it being really close!

Whereas I use Siri every day to make calls while driving and also to set reminders if I think of something while driving.
Calling a feature useless is so subjective that it's not worth trying to call something useless in an argument.

Useless to you maybe, but others may find these features useful. Its called choice. Id rather have them and not use them then not have them at all.

Samsung is very well recognised as I would say probably nearly every house has some sort of Samsung product (Phone, TV, Washing Machine, Fridge, Freezer etc etc)

Thats subjective. We seem to be talking about personal opinion here. Personally I prefer the design of the S3 over the S2.

Couldn't agree with you more. I do however feel that certain members only come into this forum to cause trouble and thats something the mods should look at.
Take this thread for example, its clearly about the S4 as thats what the thread title is. Why if someone had no interest come in here and start making comparisons as to how iphone is better. Its childish, boring and really needs to stop. Its a struggle to get adult discussion on here sometimes.
agree 100%. If I posted on the IOS or Iphone threads about Android and how good it was/is I'd get smacked and probably deserve it. There are a lot of people that come here to this forum just to heat things up. Would love to see it a bit more policed so we can all have constructive discussions here.
Anyway back to the S4. I'm really interested in what Samsung have in store next week - they are keeping it really close to their chests. Probably won't update my S3 for a while but that's ok. The S3 has a lot more life left in it yet.

Whats useless for some is important to others..everybody is different in their usage.
NFC is everywhere. But if you don't use it you don't look for it. I live in a small rural town and I see it everywhere. Old navy, McDonald's, Wawa, sheets, 7-11, gap, home depot, lowes, foot locker, pretty much every store in the local mall, even the soda machine at my gym.
I took this pic with my iPhone.
While some will debate its not true NFC or whatever it still works the same.
Some very small towns don't have it at privately owned stores but that's a given. It's not going to be at every single location. I can find places that don't even take credit at all (planet fitness).
I also see these "Wave Pay" things everywhere. Plus the London public transport network uses Oyster cards which are NFC.
But, unless I'm wrong, none of these NFC systems are compatible with my Galaxy phone, so the NFC on my phone remains unused.
I have an iPhone so I can't say with any certainty but I've seen a YouTube video.

Using a Galaxy Nexus that guy uses it at a lot of the places mentioned, McDonald's, best buy, soda machines, foot locker, Walgreens etc etc. That video is over a year old too.

I use Google Wallet with NFC all the time. I use it at my local grocery store, whenever the damn thing works. Some of their terminals don't work, some do, it's hit and miss. It is a little slower of a process than using a credit card though, mostly because you have to pull out your phone, unlock it, then find the Google Wallet app, type in your PIN, then wave it at the terminal. By this time, I would have already used my card and be out the door. But I like the cool factor of waving my cell phone to pay for something, lol.
Also, Mmmm, Wawa. I miss that place.

However I do find it funny that McDonalds have them.. I now have visions of 20-30 stone behemoths barely able to open their wallets just ordering their daily fixes by phone. We've just got to make it easier for them..... No point wasting calories reaching for the wallet. 🙂

Thanks for this. Looking further, seems Google Wallet is only available in the US.

Early S4 rumors have not been so exciting to me.
The leaked screenshots showing the Touchwiz OS, still looks like the outdated Gingerbread theme 🙄 Why can't Samsung go with a full "Holo" matching closer to stock ICS / JB ? Right now Touchwiz looks like something from Android GB 2.3, not ICS 4.0 and above.
And I blame Android for this, not as much Samsung, but if baffles me, why on a 5" 1080p large screen, are they still going with the stock 4 x 4 grid ? That looks ridiculous, so much empty wasted space with just 4 x 4 on a big screen. I know launchers like Nova can fix that, and give you a 5 x 6 grid or whatever you like, but I think it should come stock at least at 5 x5 or even 6 x 6 grid for this type of screen.
Now I am only excited for two new phones due this year; Nexus-Five who will be making that ? And Android 5.0 KLP should be a nice update hopefully. And iPhone 5S mainly to see the updated iOS7.

I live in the USA and use NFC on my S3 everyday. You don't have to even unlock your phone. Just tap, enter pin and done. I get upset when places don't have NFC payments.
The biggest feature I like is the list of payments to in the app to keep track of what I spent, later to be put in my budget app.
NFC is the future and many other countries have had it for years and is the main way of transactions.
I can tell you in Australia NFC does not exist (not literally). Im betting only the US has it and I can imagine not that many places paced on how unpopular the S3 is relative to the iPhone 5 in the US. Why would companies invest in it when the top selling smartphone does't have that feature... they won't or at least not put much emphasis on NFC. A feature is only big when Apple does it because A) its apple and B) They do it well.
