To each their own but that statement is going to likely differ with every individual. There are any number of preference one may have that the S6 may not meet. For instance, I want a larger display and value the integration of another mobile OS with its larger ecosystem. Others may value the functionality of the Note 4's stylus and consider it too important to pass up. The S6 may be fast but believe it or not, there are plenty things it can't do that I value more.
It's certainly looking like it's the current standout Android device but can't make sweeping generalizations like that and expect them to be universally true.
Dunno, the M9 seemed faster to me. And less bloat and better memory management.
Try the ip6 against it, not the Plus.

I don't know. I used the S6 in the Samsung store and again in a carrier store. It was running a demo but my iphone 6 plus felt smoother and faster. The S6 was fine , no lags or stutters and it was fast, I jsut felt that my iphone felt faster. However it was running a stupid demo which probably effected performance.
I also used the M9 and that was super smooth and super fast.

S6 looks really nice.
The Best Buy in Yorba Linda, CA has three S6's on display. Two for S6 edge in black and white. And one S6 in black. I prefer the black over white like I say about OLED displays with a black background. App icons look like they are hovering a bit. But obviously, the black shows fingerprints the most esp with glass exteriors. I always said I wished Samsung had just used the material for the Note series or even S5 black model for the rear. And the camera hump is probably its biggest eyesore in an otherwise beautiful handset.
I still prefer S6 edge because of swipe gestures and Material Design. It just looks cool and different. But the S6 feels better in the palm while the S6 edge feels more natural when you are swiping your finger across the screen.

If the extent of one's experience with the S6 is a Best Buy Demo, then hold off on final judgement because they are running Demo software which impacts performance. Plus all the Edge features aren't even available on the Demo models from what I saw.
What can be said is Samsung is 100% proving that design and cutting edge hardware can co-exist. Apple could/should learn something from this. And make no mistake, the S6 design is incredible. It slaps the iPhone 6/6+ around easily and then some.

I think it will, especially if the S6 is a big hit, which I'll bet it is. I'll be bummed to lose the SD slot, but a glass back and thinner phone will be very welcome.

They could still keep the SD card, both the HTC One and Xperia Z3 have SD cards while having a unibidy design. This is the feature I hope they keep, I've gotten attached to my 64gb SD card.

Yeah they certainly could, it would just be another tray, other phones have this. Unfortunately I suspect this was more of a f inancial decision, to force customers to upgrade models to get more memory. If that's the case then fat chance we see a SD slot ever again.

I think a Note 5 with the same design, shape and materials as the S6 could be the best smartphone of 2015.

What about faster reading speeds or something? Wasn't there something about the sd card showing read/write speeds yay would result in what feels like lag?
I thought that was part of the decision too? Not sure...

Another question to those familiar with touch wiz!
Does touch wiz offer editing arrows like the cyanogen tweak does in the picture below? Every time you initiate the keyboard on cyanogen, those left/right arrows pop up on the bottom to help with editing. Utterly invaluable software tweak!
Does Samsung have anything like that? Or would I be able to install an app that allows that?

If a Samsung Galaxy S had a baby with a Nexus 4 or Huawei Ascend P7, it would look like the S6. The S6 edge looks cooler but perhaps not worth $100-$150 looking cooler. The software features seem gimmicky right now with some needed time in the future to refine them.
The S6 just feels more comfortable and natural to hold esp if you already got used to One M8, iPhone 6, and Xperia Z3. S6 looks better in person than in photos or videos. Likewise for S6 edge too. Perhaps only on par with the Xperia Z series, Nexus 4, P8, and several other models who still try emulating Apple's iPhone 4 series glass design. The iPhone 6 series' HTC One wannabe antenna bands were more of an eyesore than the S6 series camera hump, and they still sold in record numbers and were easy to cover up with a case. And it isn't like the S6 specs are Alpha quality. The internals are just as improved as the exterior. Fastest SoC surpassing the overheating SD810 from Qualcomm.
It was a good move by Samsung to release two variants of the S6 like Apple did with the iPhone 6/6 Plus. For yuppie hipsters, S6 edge is it. For regular folks, S6 is good enough and you can save money too. And if you want sd slot and water-resist retaining two of the three features from S5, S6 Active is it. Samsung covered alot of bases. Apple and Samsung are the only real contenders at the throne for OEM's like Apple vs Google in mobile OS. Love them or hate them, expect record-breaking sales for Samsung. Too much SIX APPEAL...

Well...i am not a yuppie. Past the age requirement. For sure not a hipster...just ask my 19 year old son. But still prefer the edge to the regular S6.
You should be careful with those kind of generalizations. The almost never fit.

Nice. But it doesn't seem like you can have both gesture typing AND gesturing for cursor editing (and that makes sense that it's one or the other).
Shame. The on screen arrows are something I will miss.
Does anyone know if there's an apk to install the cyanogen keyboard?

I agree, while the edge looked really sweet, the regular GS6 felt great. If I do end up buying one, I think I would get the regular one.

If I get either it would probably be the Edge for something different to try. But that will be way down the road when prices drop and if it gets good reviews.

If you decide on SwiftKey, I recommend using SuperSwiftKey on XDA instead. It comes with a wack of custom themes.

Actually, now that we're discussing the keyboard, I wonder how typing or even swiping will be on the Edge.
Would the curve screen of the Edge make it more challenging? Like... the outermost letters/keys, would they be harder to press? Or register less? I wonder if that might be a concern...
I actually never tested the keyboard when playing with the Edge. Probably should have to see.

Actually I had read that they haven't optimised the keyboard for the edge and so letters on the edges like Q, P are indeed more fiddly to activate/register presses. This could be an Achilles heel in every day usage/activity wise.
