Can you post what games you play on your Penryn or Memron MacBook Pro, what average FPS you get, and what settings.

I am mainly interested about Counter Strike Source and CoD4.

Many Thanks.

TF2

native 1440 x 900 with everything on high, but no AA

runs awesome average 60fps (but i run with vSync on, so could be higher, but i hate tearing)

i have run CSS before it runs even better, TF2 can dip into the 30fps in heavy action, while CSS doesnt go below high 50's

-I have the 256mb 8600GT on my 2.4ghz penryn MBP

In a nice place..
COD4

1280x720 all settings normal, no aa, (and I think I had the pervasive map turned off (think that is what it was).

Speeds around 30 - 50 fps depending on the situation. Using the 169.09 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com.

With everything turned on, I usually was in the 20 - 40 fps range.

At 1440x900, with the above settings, I got 20 - 30 fps. Found it OK, but switched to the lower setting.

It was definitely playable, and with some additional tweaking can probably get even better performance.

Resolution...

I have a MBP running at 1440x900, but there's no option to run Quake 4 in that & I get this big black strip at the top of the screen every time I play. :(
Is there a file I can change to force it to run at full Res?
Really want to push the 512Mb graphics & see how it looks.

Currently I run three games, all on high or ultra high settings with AA, native resolution:

Warcraft 3
Live For Speed
Far Cry

I had the same problem at first, you have to fiddle with the display aspect ratio in Quake.

Mine (128 mb GeForce 8600M GT, 2gb RAM) runs Quake 4 at 1440x900 with most things set to their highest great - generally around 30 fps...

All the games I´ve tried so far on my Penryn 256Mb MacbookPro run great. For me, Guitar Hero 3, COD4, Age of Empires 3, Gothic 3 and Battlefield 2 run perfect, though I don´t have frame rates to proof that.
