So being an owner of a 2010 MBA 1.86/4, I am wondering how these new machines work with games, specifically WoW. I know the 2010 handles the game decently well (30-35 fps on good settings, however it does drop during peak times).

I know it's going to be awhile till people get the machine and load it up, but there have to be some early adopters out there that will test this.

    Thanks a ton!
    Walter

I've noticed early reports saying the new MBA is up with the top tier 2010 MBP's, now this could be wrong, but you could look at their benchmarks in WoW and get an early comparison.

So I'll just chime in here since that's the title. But I actually have a desktop for gaming. It's Windows too, only reason I use Windows still! But I also read that review and it's in a topic here that has a link to all the reviews, so check that out.

Well the MacBook Pro 13 inch also use the HD3000 graphics, and it's apparently the same as the last generation Nvidia 320M, so expect similar performance.

I would simply like to know the 3dMark06 score for the MBA 11" on Windows 7 Home Premium. I know my 2010 11" score, but would love to compare it to the new model.

Still considering buying the new mba... I'm just wondering would the intel 3000 hd play games smoothly like batman arkham asylum in medium setting?

The only thing keeping me from buying it is im worried the gpu isn't enough to support the upcoming batman arkham city....

The answer to this is no. Even a 330m has a hard time with this.

Is it confirmed/denied that new MBAs use lower clocked ULV HD3000, like Samsung Series 9 does for example? If it's the same as Samsung, game performance won't be anywhere as good as with fully clocked HD3000 found in MBP.

sorry but IMHO your not a "gamer" if your using any apple laptop. They all suck. If your a gamer you either having a "gaming laptop", which i use lightly b.c most laptops suck for gaming, or you have a full blown custom build PC.

lol especially the Air.. But still, being able to run StarCraft 2 even on low settings on a superthin laptop such as the Air is quite amazing... someday these laptops will replace our custom gaming PCs :/

i actually can play a few games on my 13'' air. via steam, under macOS, so under windows they should go very well. under steam i have:
    portal
    portal 2
    trine
    torchlight
and the all run fine. ok, they are not 2011-aaa titles, but on my old macbook alu and on my actual imac alu 2008 they are slow and sluggish. i am honestly surprised with this machine! there are video on youtube of people playing cod4:modern warfare just fine

dude i seriously hate people like you, thinking your teh shieeet pro gamer because you have an insane windows pc that runs wow 200FPs on ultra.

Being a gamer means you play video games, it's that simple, you're a gamer if you play super mario through your toaster.

Hardcore gamers, or professional gamers obviously don't use laptops, they use desktop PCs with 100/120 HZ screens with the most responsive mouses and keyboards and whatnot.

This guy is basically just asking if he _CAN_ (READ CAN CAN CAN CAN) play WoW on the new MacBook Air.

Gaming on the mac is not stupid, i use my MacBook Pro as an all-round portable machine, so i totally understand people want to know if their favorite game can run on it, it makes stuff like LAN parties and stuff a lot easier, because you don't have to drag your huge desktop with screen keyboars headset and all that.

Bloody hell, I just came here to ask how people thought the new MBAs would stack up against my Late 2008 MBP!

    Fallacy alert.

That's the No True Scotsman fallacy.

If you play games then you're a gamer. A person who isn't a gamer doesn't play games.

Yes. TF2 is based on the Source engine which is very efficient not to mention nearly a decade old.

Gaming is something I'm having to consider. I currently have a 2011 MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 with 1GB graphics card but like the thought of having one of the new Air's because of portability. However, I game on occasion and think I'd miss the GPU advantage of the MacBook Pro 15 2.2.

Having said that, the Pro heats up like a furnace when playing game and is so loud so I do wonder whether or not to just use the XBOX and have an Air as my work laptop. I'd miss the gaming portability though..

    Oh to be rich !

You are not a true gamer unless you have a vintage arcade cabinet in your house. MAMEs don't count, those are for poseurs.
