Games that don't disable your iPod music?

Which games are you playing that don't kill your iPod on startup?

I downloaded a few games recently (Hold 'Em, Zen Pinball, Subway) and none of them allow my iPod to play in background. Trism does, which is great because I'm completely addicted to that game.

There's no way to tell before purchasing if an app will do this or not it seems, so maybe we can start a list.

I make it a point in all my reviews on my site to mention whether or not the game fades out your own music when you start it up. A growing number of games these days are doing this more and more, sadly. It's mostly the free, simpler games that don't.

You can bypass this most of the time by double-pressing the button on the headphones, or double-clicking the Home button.

All of our (Seahorse Software) games allow you to listen to your own music. I can be playing before you start the game, or by double tapping the home button while playing.

We have gotten dinged a few times in reviews for not having sound effects, but this allows the user to listen to their own music (plus I normally turn off sound effects in games for covert playing ;) )

I tried pressing the home button twice to bring up the iPod control overlay but it exits the game and then takes me to the iPod.

Music has to be playing for this to work, and you have to make sure you double-clicked fast. The setting responsible for this is under Settings>General>Home Button. Make sure iPod is selected, and not Phone Favorites.

Got it! Yeah, you have to be pretty quick. Just got it to work in Hold 'Em.

    That was really helpful, thanks!

Some games (like Vay) actually have an option or a preference for this.

I have wasted soooo much time playing Trism while listening to music. For me, it's one of my favorite time-wasting activities.

And I agree, I wish there was a way to know in advance which games/apps allow music in the background before I buy/download it.

Sol Free works fine with the music in the background.

Cube Runner and iCave (v1.1) allow you to listen to your own music - you do need to turn the ingame sounds and music off first though.

If you turn off the sound in CubicMan's settings, it won't interrupt your music.
