If they have better business practices than GameStop and open a store in Lawrence, KS, I might go there. We used to have a MacXprts, but they shared space with iCafé which was a sketch operation. I was kind of sad when they closed shop. Their next tactic for my chronically failing MBP was going to be a new logic board.

But if the reviews aren't favorable, I won't step foot in one of their stores. Especially with how much care is needed in repairing the new rMBPs. I might as well go to iGurus where they have somehow managed to operate under Apple's radar for three years replacing cracked iPhone screens.

It would be good to have some competition with the only Mac authorized service provider in my area (Connecting Point Computers) in Medford, Oregon, but smart shoppers will compare their prices to the apple online store before purchase.

They wouldn't match my wife's MacBook Air education store quote recently, it made it easy to custom order from apple instead. If it ever needs service, they still have to provide the AppleCare.

For fun, I asked about my Nexus 7 2013 with 32gb. They happily quoted me $60 for trade in.

They sell 16gb iphone 4s for $299. They will probably give you $50 bucks if you had one to trade in.

Simply Mac is Simply Terrible.
Please do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs.

You will be BETTER served by driving 4 hours to another store if you have to.
Apple, Expercom, heck even Best Buy are all better choices.

I have had Simply Mac employees out right lie and swindle. They do not deserve your patronage.
I (being a die-hard apple/mac fan and someone who normally likes to support smaller/locally based business) would recommend an android or Windows device to someone before I sent them to Simply Mac to buy anything.

More like "Come and trade your $700 iPhone for $20 instore credit, then watch us turn around and sell your used hardware for $690. Would you like to purchase this thick 300 page iPhone users guide? What about our extended warranty? Would you like a subscription to MacLife Magazine? Would you like to place money down for the iPhone 7 so you'll have a chance of getting it on release day? Would you like...".

This is why I don't shop at GameStop anymore. Not only was I getting bombarded with deals and offers on every single visit, but then the employees started to give me attitude when I kept saying no thank you.

I don't get harassed on Amazon. It's nice there.

Funny, but not quite. Sharing retail space is not the same as combining menus. If we used the logic of some posters here they would have become "Pizza Bell" or "Taco Hut."

I probably should have used the example of The Men's Warehouse and Joseph A. Banks.

The Men's Warehouse now owns J.A. Banks, but the latter will operate independently just like they always have.

WOAH!

Of far more intest is what this signals GameStop thinks of where the video game market is heading!

They think we're finally making the move that has been expected for years when gamers drop all of their dedicated gaming devices and switch to devices which can do games as well as other things, IE, computers, smart phones, and tablets, and possibly future smart TVs and the like.

Or, the digital market. Here in Europe all gaming stores now sell cards because they want to remain relevant to a market that's going towards download. Playstation Vita is at 90% digital to 10% cart, 3DS is 50-50 at the moment yet the 3DS is also likely to be the 3rd best selling console of all time (behind the Wii that has only recently ceased production).

Camera shops, phone shops are vanishing and being merged into supermarkets. Where are those markets heading?

This is why Gamestop will never receive another dime of my money. **** them.

I completely agree with you about your main point and I would never contest that at all.

I am only pointing out that, 4 miles from my house, I can "get pizza at Taco Bell and tacos at Pizza Hut". I can, quite literally, order both a taco and a pizza at one register, pay once, and receive both together on the same tray. So yes, there are better examples. :)

Here's another unholy abomination:

I find it humorous that the pizza ads are under the Taco Bell signage and the taco ads are under the Pizza Hut signage.

Aw, I thought it would be a store for Mac games and software. Push the Mac revolution! But this looks like one of those things that's as "Mac" as MacRumors. AKA 99% iPhone.

Just saying, you had the choice of selling it anywhere else...

Funny. My friend said that he was at GameStop with his friend, and the employee asked his friend if he wanted a warranty. My friend told his friend that he can just download his "digital copy" from the Xbox 360 online store and not have to worry about damaging the disc, and the employee got upset and said, "Well I wasn't FORCING him to buy it!" Waking into a store where employees are paid commission feels like walking into a shark tank.

I think that's just following Apple's own lead, aka Apple doesn't seem all that interested in Macs since iOS devices have become such a huge business.

Precisely.

iOS is Apples cash cow, OS X gets lip service just to save face. Despite denial and stories to the contrary, Apples working hard to achieve convergence. The sooner iOS runs everything the happier and wealthier Apple will be. Remember it's the post PC Era now.

Come and trade your $700 iPhone for $100 worth of GameStop store credit!

thats is the furthest thing from the truth i have read on this forum.

Gamestop gives VERY competitive pricing on trades. they give upwards to $300 for an iphone 5s...yes for the 2% of people who actually buy iphones when they first come out, and buy them without a contract, then yes $300 for something you spent $800 for isnt alot of money....but again i dont know anyone who actually buys the iteration of the iphone EVERY YEAR for full price without selling the previous one for atleast half

and yes Gamestop is still a business, sorry they dont want everyones Madden 2008 or Call of duty 65. they are there to make money, its none of your business if they flip a game for triple the price they gave you. EVERY RETAIL STORE sells products to consumers to make money.

why doesnt anyone complain when Bestbuy sells headphones for $300 when they buy them from the company for $120?

get over yourselves, bashing Gamestop is sooo 2002

and Apple sells chargers for $25 when it costs them $0.85.

EVERYONE DOES IT. ITS A BUSINESS. either make your own failing business by selling everything for cost price, or shut up.

Schools, Businesses, Retail Stores, Corporations etc... is why iOS wont take over thankfully.

look at Microsoft, i hate Windows8, which means i hate there phones, which means i hate my XBox One. its not a good thing to have everything the same.

Not everyone can wait a minimum of three days (1 day to overnight it to Apple, 1 day to repair, 1 day to overnight it back to you) for repairs. There will always be cases where someone needs a repair very quickly and driving to an Apple store is not an option. Heck, even when driving to an Apple store is an option, the Genius Bar might be so booked that you can't get in to see them until the next day or even later. As Apple products, including Macs, become more and more popular, expecting Apple to fulfill all the support/repair needs of everyone out there becomes less and less realistic.

Even if you lived next door, you still have to wait if only because every repair store has a queue of computers to work through.
