awesome, man! :)
could you check one more setting for me, since I'm planning to buy an iMac with Iris Pro? I'll leave you alone after that, I promise :D
its 1080p textures=high, shadows=off, clutter=off, physics=low, lowfx=on, aa=off.

done :)

no way to play Witcher 2 on OS X with Iris Pro - texture, shadow, light flickering everywhere and poor FPS as well even on smallest resolution with lowest settings... probably because of lack of big ultrafast GDDR5 Vram on graphics like 750m have

I have just compared World of Warcraft on 750GT and Iris Pro, on maxed out rMPB. It was by mistake first (using gfxCardStatus to force integrated gpu), but I noticed 2 things when game started. The place was familiar, becouse I'm camping there for some time, so the difference was easily noticeable:

1. Lower framerate. I'm running WoW windowed, but with settings maxed out and with 750 the min fps circles around 30+, with integrated it was 14-18, but in most cases a stable 24-28 fps.

2. Image quality. Really, it's completely different look. I'm not sure if it's related to lack of support for some image processing options, but this game on Iris Pro looks worse.

If they fix both issues, I will get next rMPB with interal gpu only. That is, if I will have any choice :D

Thanks OP, your post has been one of the most useful in the last days.

I was planning on getting a late 2013 rmbp 13", 256, 16, 2.4; but found that the base rmbp 15" late 2013, was not that much expensive, in comparison to the rmbp 15" with dgpu.

Now I'm deciding between these laptops:

-Rmbp 13" mentioned above.
-Rmbp 15" base model, mentioned above.

I'll mainly use it for heavy web browsing (lots of tabs), adobe editing software (photo and video, nothing too heavy), Office, Netflix. I got a desktop, where I play my pc games, but would be nice to have a laptop that can handle those when I'm out. Mostly I play Dota 2 (like 95% of the time), but I'd like the laptop to handle Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 and WoW. Well, I also play hearthstone, but I know there aren’t going to be any problems with it.

All my other gaming I do it on my consoles and handheld devices.

I like the portability of the 13”, but just for a few more dollars I can get a laptop that is kindda portable, and can handle those games I mentioned, I think.

I‘d like to get the dgpu, but can’t justify the price. For that much I can get the base model 15” and a ps4 or X1 or Wii U with a bunch of games, now that mario kart and smash are coming, or upgrade my desktop.

I know is my call, but I’d like to hear from you or anyone around. What do you recommend? Is the 15” base model much more machine than the 13”?

*Bonus: Has anyone tried The Elder Scrolls Online with Iris Pro on the rmbp 15”. Never been a fan of that franchise, but that game seems really nice.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the grammar.

Greetings from Peru.

I have a 13" MBPr (2.8GHz i7 Haswell, 8GB, 256GB SSD) and a 15" MBPr (2.3GHz i7 IvyBridge, 8GB, 256GB SSD, GT 650M) and with every day i´m more surprised about the 13" MBPr.

I play World of Warcraft on this little machine and with a resolution of (1650x1050) and with good settings (sun and ssao disabled) and FPS capped at 30 the fans are almost quite. Even on a Thunderbolt Display (clamshell mode), same settings and 1920x1080 its absolutely well playing.

But keep in mind, i`m a casual gamer and never do raids.

I'm thinking about upgrading to the new rMBP base with 16gb of ram and the Iris Pro. When gaming on PC I usually stick to Blizzard/Riot games. Seems like unless i'm running these at native (which I almost never do unless it's to show someone how pretty it looks) then I should be fine. Also seems to keep up with the dedicated cards in terms of editing/rendering as well. Plus, since I upgraded to Mavericks, League of Legends is running way better with my Intel HD 4000 than my 650m, so upgrading to something with just better integrated graphics doesn't sound as bad now:p

Kinda curious how well the Iris Pro would do with streaming tho. OBS will have a Mac version soon, or Wirecast being the other, more expensive option. I wonder if the Iris Pro could handle playing a game around low-medium graphics at 900-1050p while streaming it at 720p as well. Hearthstone would probably be easy, but wondering if it could handle LoL or possibly WoW.

Well, it depends. If Intel will finally port its Media SDK to OS X, so guys from OBS team could implement Quick Sync in OS X, then you'll be absolutely fine. If no - well, only god knows :)

i wouldn't expect that unless there are some nvidia only filters or post processing

if you can get something that uses intel quicksync you could probably do it fine, though you might have to use windows, idk if quicksync hw encoding is available for osx or not.
