I've got a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo 17" MacBook Pro. Hi-res display, 2GB of RAM. Should be fine for running graphics-intensive 3D games. How is XP running via Boot Camp working for the really intense games? The one I'm most concerned about is Half Life 2. I've got HL2 and HL2: Episode One already, and I'm pretty much decided on preordering the Orange Box so I can get Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. I just want to be sure that it'll run well enough before I commit. Thoughts?

I don't have Boot Camp, but if you can, I would wait a few weeks for Leopard with the final Boot Camp, to avoid problems :)

I think I can handle that. Waiting for the finances to be just right anyways before I buy anything. Thanks for the thought.

'Nother question, what about gaming mice? Trackpads suck for FPS control. What's the best gaming mouse, wired or Bluetooth, that works well in both the Mac and Windows environment?

Source engine LOVES ATI cards - by that I mean that you seem to get better speeds from ATI-branded graphics cards than from Nvidia owing to the fact that the engine was developed with closer collaboration with ATI. Nevertheless, it is quite happy to run on older cards and hardware. As such, you should easily be able to enjoy Half Life 2 through Bootcamp on your Macbook Pro, but I would echo the sentiment to wait for Leopard first...

The ATI preference is probably why I'm able to run HL2 at all on my 5-year-old PC with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. Amazing. I'll definitely wait for Leopard, I think I'll have more success with the 1.0 release of Boot Camp.
