Gaming on the 2020 -fans

Newbie on the gaming front. Just learned to use bootcamp. Downloaded Read Dead R2 and the fans started blasting. I understand its a big game. But I have also tried it on one other, small game, the same. I paused the RDD2 to write this here, even then the fans where on full speed. The system got so slow the letters where lagging..... It kicked in just watching the intro video, and would not stop even when I head into settings, just to look - to give it a chance to settle down.
First starting to skip some framnes, chopping and then the fans starts.
1 tb storage. I gave almost all to the bootcamp.

i7, 1 tb, 64gb ram, xt5700 16gb.

I have also posted on the graphical glitch thread (second last at the moment) with pictures and videos on what happens with some of the images when preview. Color noise or whatso.

I hope I may have set it up wrong with windows.

From the first day with the mac, the fan just suddenly started a couple of times, but settled down quickly after just a few seconds. Still, I was very surprised because I almost never heard it on the 2012...

Is there some test one could run to check if the fans kick in, where they shouldn't?

I would say this machine is not really a silent gaming workhorse because of the design and fan situation.
Not many space inside the display, no big fans = noisy.
I only compare here the imac with my gaming PC (big case with big case-fans, CPU, GPU, Chipset under watercooling).
I used this watercooling system in my PC since 1999 and only change a watercooler after an hardware upgrade if it is necessary.

I recommend to wear overear-headphones to reduce the crying fans of the imac.
It is a similar situation with gaming PCs in small cases and small fans...

My hope is that the imac 2020 that i ordered for my music production will be silent when I work in Logic Pro X and in other casual standard applications like web browsing etc., we will see.

Yes I have understood that the macs ar not the best for gaming.
But the reviews off the new imacs showed playing ex GTA without the fans spinning loudly.

I dont need the 5700 16gb, only editing some photos. Chosed it only for the sake as it could run a game now and then.

Maybe gta and rdd2 are very different on the system? I could wish....

Yeah, just wow, very dissapointed, should have saved that money. As said, I tried it with some other much smaler games. Just cant belive it But on the other hand, other video reviews looks like they are running smooth. May it be because of the bootcamp?

At idle, arms lenght I can hear the fan. Have only the 2012 to compare, that one I could not hear. The fan speed is constant at 1200rmp, for my understanding you cant adjust the fan on the 2020. Someone know why that is? Went from just above 40 degress, around 43-45 to now 36 degrees after disabled turbo boost.
Not going to lie, its a little annoying with the idle fan noise.. Im in the kitchen with noise all around me, can still hear it.

While I am a newcomer to contemporary PC gaming, I must say that none of this is surprising.

I have a well-appointed Mac mini 2018 connected to a Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 650 housing a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580.

For about a thousand dollars less, I have a custom built Windows PC that blows doors on that. AMD Ryzen 3700X CPU, AMD B550 motherboard, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER. And that's all in a micro-ATX case with a 240mm AIO liquid cooler for the CPU and a 120mm AIO liquid cooler for the modded graphics card.

On peak load, this Windows PC is quieter than my Mac mini + Sonnet.

And its accessible game library is about twenty times bigger than what the Mac can access.

Macs are great for what they are primarily designed to do however gaming is not one of those scenarios.
