Gaming PC giving a VRAM errror in one game

would anyone in here know why a brand new gaming PC would be giving me an error (in the game Evolve if that helps). error/specs below.

"Sub-optimal performance detected"
"your graphics card don't have enough VRAM to run at a resolution 1920X1080"

then it switches to very low settings (in windowed mode)

Win 8
I7 processor
SSD 320
Nvidia GTX 760

any ideas would be great

I thought that some cards were upgradeable.

I believe you need at least 2 GB of video memory to run this game in full HD resolution with high settings. When I played the alpha it was using about 3.7GB of vram with maxed settings on my gtx880m @ 1440p.
