With the power of the new iPad Pros being close to par with the Xbox One X.

Wouldn’t it be great if controllers come out to play games just like a console? I have always wanted to play games on my iPad with a controller, and now it may be possible.

If Apple or another company made a controller and then app games supported it or were even made for it, the iPad Pro could beat out other gaming consoles.

    What do you guys think?

They make controllers already. I have a nimbus, works great. I’m hoping for some cool games to come out that utilize them.

    Cool, I didn’t know that!

I hope some good games come out as well.

I’d love to see Doom, COD and Battlefield. Maybe even a good GTA game

Do you know if the GTA games utilize this controller ? I own III, Vice City and San Andreas on iOS but hate playing them because Touch controlling sucks..

Xbox One S. Not Xbox One X. That’s a big difference! 1.3Tflops vs. 6Tflops. To get comparable performance you’d need the maxed out Radeon 580 in the 5K iMac.

It’s also important to note that the Xbox One S has 8GB of RAM while these have 4-6GB (rumored to be higher in 1TB models only). So the larger open world stuff might not look as good, texture quality, etc. Also at this point the One S is 2013 GPU hardware. Impressive for such a thin tablet, sure, but with the One X and the PS4 Pro it’s basically last gen and true next gen will likely be announced at E3 next year and come out in 2020 and blow it away even more. But for sure there will be some good looking games, and Metal could help. I don’t do much iPad gaming nowadays though. Too busy with Switch and One X gaming recently.

I'm more distracted by the fact that you've started typing like this.

I don’t, I don’t do much gaming on my iPad aside from the occasional 2D, sport, or racing game.

I tried searching and couldn’t find the answer online.

But seems like a great controller I’m picking one up anyways. Thanks

Controllers have been discussed on the forum a couple times. I have the nimbus one as well, nice hardware, hardly any console quality games out there though. And for those who find one, there is no force feedback (rumble) support in iOS, which takes away a lot of the experience.

Sweet! The nimbus supports the GTA games.

I found an updated list, some pretty nice games getting support.

I'm playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on my Xbox One S. I would buy the new iPad in a second if a game like this came out for it. It would support all the hype Apple placed on the new iPad.

I can safely say that the iPad can never be a gaming device for me. Im one of those PC > console people who need a mouse and keyboard for FPS games especially. :p

Yes, there have been a lot of discussion among game developers about the missed "potential" with apple and creating a very unique gaming platform. iPhones and iPads with the A12X Bionic chip you would have a mobile device that can play games that have better graphics than a Nintendo Switch or XBOX One. The Apple TV could also be a home "console" if they updated it to the newer CPU/GPU. All you really need is a controller. An Apple designed controller for games and future AR/VR titles would be amazing.

Imagine all your games synced through iCloud. Play on your phone and you can finish playing on your AppleTV. If they could get EA to port their games (especially the full versions of FIFA, Madden etc) Apple could make make a killing.

I'm hoping we start seeing a world where we can pick up and stream a game from anywhere. I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey through Chrome browser on my 2013 Macbook Pro via streaming, and 95% of the time, it's pretty seamless and not too laggy. I use my PS4 controller plugged into my MacBook and am having a blast playing something that isn't even available on Mac.

I'd love to see something similar to where we could pair a "real" controller (MFi needs to go, doesn't support buttons/control schemes for most console games) and stream through an iPad. Not quite there yet, but hopefully it's just around the corner. :)

If you want to game on your iPad like you do on your PS4, you can download the app R-Play, wich is really nice. It streams your PS4 to your ipad in full HD 60fps, no lag.

When at home, you can use your PS4 controller with it. When away (because yes you can, with wifi), you have to use an other controller like the Nimbo one, but it’s not a big tradeoff given the fact that you have a portable PS4 with you.

Interesting. I'm assuming you mean the Steelseries Nimbus? I have it for my iPad and ATV4K. Pretty good controller.

This seems pretty cool since I just got a PS4pro. Loving RDR2 right now!
