Im not aware of any programs in OS X that allow you to overclock the video card... If you want to overclock your 9400 why not go to system pref and change to the 9600? Windows uses the 9600 only

I got the 2.66 MBP. I read a few benchmarks regarding wether to get the 256 or 512 card and the handful of fps you achieve with the 512er didn't justify the £££ in my opinion.

Good luck with your choice.

I don't understand why waste that money on a mac just to play games. You may as well buy a pc that's dedicated to play games on it since you'll have to be in windows bootcamp constantly. Unless you have games for the mac it's silly to play games on a MBP for 10 hrs a day. The mac will run too hot for long periods of time.

I don't know what's up with my mac. When ever I play and PC games in Bootcamp my computer runs hot and the fans run on high while playing Battlefield 2142 and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. Is it the drivers or the video card. I assume this must be normal. I find XP a hog on my battery compared to OSX. What are your experiences on gaming in Bootcamp?

I don't game much, but before I started I installed the 9600 NVIDIA drivers from there site. I haven't tried gaming with the Apple drivers. So far it's looking good. I played the F.E.A.R. 2 demo and had the occasional Left 4 Dead session.

Everything looks good (can't remember the exact settings) and the MBP doesn't get too hot either I guess.

I'm running Windows 7 (7600).

My MBP has a GeForce 8600 GT video card. How do I know if I have the latest drivers for windows XP? Perhaps that may be where all the heat is coming from. Just a thought.

The thing is, it'd be more for people (like me) who (will) have the 13" MBP model with only the 9400M. It's just nice if it's possible to tune/overclock it a bit more, staying stable but getting the max possible out of your gfx card :).

(It'd be in Windows, still gaming related so it's on-topic, I don't think OSX games need overclocking since they seem to run fine whichever latest MBP you have)

Also for people having the fan problem: isn't there a program to adjust fans in the MBP in windows? I heard something about that.

Who said anyone here is using a mac just to play games? If they are thats up to them, i use mine for audio production so need to use protools and logic... No its not always in windows, only when i play games, as os x is better to use so its used for anything else... Its not silly to play games on a MBP for 10hours a day because it doesnt overheat actually... i use CPUID to monitor temps, and also records the max. 30mins or 5hours, even 10 with a few breaks one day, the temps level off after about 10mins.

Sorry i missed the 13" part hehe... Search on google. Notebook review is a good forum also, just be prepared to cop the usual, why waste money on a mac etc etc.

There is input mapper, but that causes random system hangs when i run it. Ive since found out my fans work properly anyway, with them turned to 6000rpm or on auto the temp is the same... which is great.
