Gap on one side at the back?

When the Macbook is closed the black bar at the back is there meant to be a gap at one side?

Just wondering because I have just noticed it and there is no gap at the other side?

On the other side the black plastic goes all the way up to the metal.

It's adjustable. You can move it to the other side if you push it....
It's normal

lol yes i have that too.
didn't have it on my old screen..... which is perhaps why it crapped out on me!
