At the rate they make these phones and the unforgiving nature of the buyers (many of them), **** happens.
If Apple said they needed a week to hand stroke all phones to make sure there are no visible flaws then do you think that would go over well? You're talking to a group of psychos who have literally sat around all week tracking a box in a warehouse, on a plane, on a truck to their porch.

Flaws will happen, Apple will cover it most likely unless you're being completely inane. I think the pic posted shows a cosmetic flaw that I would deal with until the overall hype settled down. I'd then make my way to Apple and get myself a replacement. No worries.

He will get it replaced, he just needs to relax about it.

Get it replaced ASAP
It's not a dire emergency, sheesh.

These sort of quality issue should not happen on a premium phone like this.

Give the slave labor in China a break. You try to do the same miniscule task repetitively over 16hrs. Minor mistakes are bound to happen.

will try and get it replaced tomorrow at apple store, if not i will just wait a week or 2 and use it with my bumper.

its not a big problem its just you expect things to be perfect and it came as a bit of a dissapointment after the excitement.

Dude, I would without question return it. That is a design flaw. The Apple Store is great and they should replace it no problem! It's not u just being picky, it's very noticeable. Later

A glass action lawsuit is the only solution.

I couldn't see your pic while remote, but yes now that I look at it. Replace the device is best.

Went to the Apple store, they replaced mine straight away :)

They said, they hadn't seen any like this so far. Don't think this is a big issue, just some minor quality control issue.

just to update on this, i got it replaced 2 times today.
first replacement had the same issue, and they didnt want to replace it again with another one. i had to argue my case, they tried to tell me it was within manufacturing tolerances.
Took a very long time to get it all processed but its all done now :)

Happy owner of a 64GB white iphone 4s.

I've got a chip in mine. Sent some photos to AppleCare and they agreed it doesn't look like accidental damage. I received a call about 2 hours later from AppleCare to say a new one would be in the post on Monday!

After closer inspection, mine is also sporting gaps between the plastic and glass. I will see what the new one is like!

This post just made my day. LOL! Funny, yet so true.

Thanks, Jessica.

just got my white 4s 64gb and theres gaps on the back and front, between the edge of the glass and the plastic rims.

has anyone else had these issues

I have the same thing on my iPhone 4, Don't know how bad it is judging by your picture but on mine there are gaps on a few different places around the phone. Sent it to Apple and got it back with saying it meets Apple's specs or whatever.

It seems to be on the White Apple products I have noticed as the White iPad 2 I bought first had the same issue.
