My thoughts on the matter

My Garage Sale is not working properly and was thinking of switching to iSale. Can you tell me anything about it.

Thanks alot

For what its worth; I bought iSale randomly convincing myself I'll make the money back by being motivated to sell stuff on eBay.

Oddly, I did. So far, so good. They're really tight about licensing, which pisses me off because I hate when I know I could have gotten a torrent of something, but purposely bought it to give them credit, yet can't use it on my notebook (considering almost every average computer user has 1 desktop & 1 laptop).

But seriously, I'd go with iSale. It works real nicely. :apple:

I purchased Garage Sale, and really enjoy using it - the UI is really nice.

I ended up getting iSale as part of a Macheist bundle (I think), and after trying it, I just couldn't get used to it. Garage Sale has a much cleaner and less confusing interface.

Cheers for that. Didn't know they had a trial - trying it out now.

Resurrecting and old topic, sorry, but I have been looking for good eBay software for Mac for a long time, this discussion is good.

I had never heard of GarageSale before, only iSale. I see GarageSale has an iPhone app too, which is nice, if I am going to spend some money (which I rarely do) I need to spend it on the one that works with everything I've got. Here is what I wrote Equinox (no response, unfortunately):

"Your software looks interesting, I would like to try it but it is locked until I pay $25, I would just pay it but it is just not in the budget at this time. You don’t have a ‘time limited’ or ‘lite’ version that I could try do you? Something for $9.95 that limits to say 25 auctions a month would be nice for us small guys and starters… I’m not saying that $25 is not a fair price, mind you. Maybe even a subscription model that charges 25c per auction or something? Just a suggestion that would work for me...
Some things that would make a useful addition to your software, I think (I haven’t actually used it yet, see above):
  • iPhone integration
  • A system to back up your auctions to standard HTML or some other standard format. I am concerned about getting into some good software only to find it discontinued and lose all my work, you know?
  • Do you plan on offering it through the Mac App Store? I know it adds another layer of complication for you but it does reach a lot of people…"
Still haven't decided on the iSale vs GarageSale but am leaning toward GarageSale because of its iPhone app, though you have to buy BOTH the iPhone app and the Mac app to do it all...

I found a cheap or free version on a place called eshareload but I think it is a cracked, pirated copy and I really don't want anything to do with that...

I couldn't recommend the Mac app (Garagesale) enough, it's brilliant. Deffo worth the money.

The iPhone app is great too for listing things quickly / on the go.

Well, in my research yesterday I found iSale Express which costs only $7.99 and evidently you can at least try it out and list something on eBay (with only template) without paying, so I got it setup but didn't have time to try it yesterday. Then I got this email this morning:

Hi Russell,

Thank you for your feedback!

We are currently in the process of retiring iSale, so won't be offering a lite version unfortunately.

Thank you for your interest!

Kind regards,
Adam
So that answers that! Now to search and see if there is a 'lite' version of GarageSale!

So I searched and found softpedia.com has 'Garage Sale Basic' available (I think this was the only shareware site that has the last version of this no-longer produced cheaper version). I got it setup and it looks like you can list three auctions before you pay for it so i think I will give it a shot! If I like the way it works I will at least buy the iPhone version for $7.99 come payday, then once I am a big-time eBayer I will pony up for the full Mac version. I just wish they also had a PC version as our server is my wife's PC and some things are best done from that end of the house...
