Hi there. I purchased a used Macbook with Leopard pre-installed and iLife '08. I am able to get Garageband to open, but there is nothing at all as far as instruments or loops. When I checked the Garageband folder on the admin user account in Library/Application Support, there are no instruments in the folders at all. The Macbook came with no installation discs whatsoever. How do I get instruments/loops for Garageband?

my friends macbook shipped the same way. i think he just used the mac auto-update or whatever it's called and it installed the missing loops etc.

not sure if that will work for you, but try it if you haven't already.

If you click on one of the missing instruments in the instrument library, it will ask if you want to update. Click "yes" and it will download 1.1GB of missing instruments and beats.

    That should solve it. :)

    still no go

Thanks for all your advice. Neither of those worked. The machine is updated for whatever needs updating and I can't click on any of the missing instruments, they are grey, dimmed, and do absolutely nothing when clicked on.
