Hey everyone, whatsup.
I'm sure there is 100 of these threads, and more across the world wide web, but my question isnt [or is it?] as easily answered as it seems.
Right to the point,
I am using GarageBand '09 [ Yes, I know, its old. But I've been recording and mastering all this time, and sadly, they cant be used with newer versions of GB, so in order to finish the albums, I must press on with it. ]
I mix my tracks [ Not software instruments, I record vocals directly into GB through a preamp ] and add the soundscapes from an outer source.
I mix/master the vocals until they sound to my liking in the program, quite meticulously, and when I am happy I export the track as a whole to iTunes as an AIFF.
Essentially, since I am not compressing, should this recording not come out nearly EXACTLY the same as it sounded in GB? I have Auto-Normalize off, and all my iTunes EQ's are turned off which seem to be the culprit to most people who ask this exact same question... But thats not whats happening to me.
The Vocals only at very certain points, [Loud yes, but not distorted when in GB mix] distort, or sound abit rusty. The track does not sound flat, it sounds good, there are just a few words that distort. How can I get my AIFF to be TRULY lose less, so when I upload to BandCamp and it does my compressing for me, its the same sound I hear in garageband.
Its not a problem that I found to be persistent in the past, definetly not something I noticed, and I tend to be quite OCD when it comes to mixing lol. So I feel like it may be a new issue, and if not one, that I should beable to fix since it has nothing to do with the recordings themselves.
Also, I'd be happy to provide a download to my .band file, for someone to take a look at if they'd like. Maybe that would provide some answers!
Thank you very much and glad to be part of the forum.
