Garageband: use midi keyboard for guitar/real instrument function

Hello. Does anybody know why it is not possible to use the real instrument feature (particularly the guitars with all the amps and pedals available), despite the fact that I have a USB MIDI keyboard. I guess it would work with an interface that plugs in an electric guitar. But why not also with a midi keyboard? Is it possible?

A secondary question: I have bought the 5$ garageband bonus pack. Is there also any other (third party) pack suggest, where I could add more instruments and sounds?
