So I just joined this site. I have wanted to play pokemon for a while now ever since I upgraded to lion. I am using the intel version of VisualBoyAdvance that was put out (THANK YOU!:D) and I still am having problems saving files? Did anyone find out why it won't save? I'm running 10.7 and I seem to be out of luck. Sorry that I'm not all techy and stuff but I just wanted to play pokemon the other night.

How were you able to get VBA to run on Lion? It worked perfectly for me until 10.7 came along

Size

Can someone tell me how to make the screen bigger. I just got the emulator and i have no idea how to get to the settings.

Hey, the emulator works brilliantly! Thanks! But is there any way I can make the screen bigger? Because right now I am playing on a Gameboy Sized screen =]

Let me know!

The emulator doesn't work for me... Not only the window is small but it doesn't show all of the screen and neither good colors. Here's a screenshot:

Could the rom be bugged?

edit: Fixed. Remove that stupid option called "Gameboy Border" in the preferences. But the window is still small, any way to resize it?

I can't save my game on the VBA that works for lion...

How do i do this?

Watabou that works perfectly! Thank you so much. Another quick question is there a way I can get my saved game from the other version to load up? Got some time into that :D

Actually I figured it out myself, just copied the save state from the first version I had to the folder in the new one you just gave me

The thing is every time I try to copy the .sav of the game that i want to play on it wont let me play it. It says "Unknown file type /Users/rafaelcamacho/Downloads/GBA/Battery Saves/Pokemon Crystal.sav" Help please!!!

I have the same problem as a few people above with the intel VBA... I managed to open it the first time, but then I selected x4 screen size and full screen to experiment, after which it would not start successfully, saying that it quit unexpectedly. I have tried deleting, re-downloading and restarting - but it seems that my default setting is now x4 and full screen, and it closes before I get to a stage where I can change that. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Or at least reset the default settings for the app so that it opens in a small window (I managed to get it to open the first time). In fact, why does it save my default settings even if I delete and re-dowload? Is there a file somewhere which I need to delete for that?

Thank you.

Edit: Using a Pokemon FireRed cart - and as I said, it opened at the very beginning. The problem seems to lie with the x4 full screen.
Edit2. I'm on Lion - I have seen posts about save issues above, but I haven't even got to a stage where I might encounter such problems.
Edit3. I realised that on opening VBA for the first time, I had to search for the ROM folder to select one. Now, even after deletion and reinstallation, when I open VBA, I am automatically taken to the ROM folder. I think that this is similar to it opening in full screen. Where information like this may be stored, so I can delete the file?

Hi, im kind of a techno-peasant, and id like to start playing the Macboy Advance contraption. I downloaded it but every time i try to open it, it asks me if id like to restore the windows. Ive tried both options but is doesnt seem to work. Does anyone have any insight as to what i can do?

Nobody seems to be helpful in answering this question. I have it as well... Am I installing it wrong? Putting it in the wrong place? Not opening the right ROM? It crashes or asks me to restore windows. Before it "quits unexpectedly" it does ask me which ROM I want to open so that may have something to do with it. Also, where do I save ROMs? I have been putting them in the MBA folder in the Applications but I fear that may be wrong.

Any luck with this? I tried VBA without luck. Tried that No$GBA and it wouldn't play anything. Kind of a bummer. At least I have it working on a JB iPad. The problem is, I'm trying to sell that iPad.

Hi, I have been using this emulator and it runs without any problems but one for me. It uses so much processor, more than 100% when running a game, that I don't feel comfortable using it at all. I've tried reinstalling it, and it appears that I have the latest version. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and does anyone know a fix?
Thanks!

Boycott advance

This worked for me. Fullscreen kept crashing MacBoy when I tried to use it.

You can drag the window to desired size and it preserves scaling, no reset needed for changing video options, good keyboard config menu too. Sound isn't the best I've heard, but it definitely works.

I will note however, that I've noticed a few quirks. Like in the in game map in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, the screen flashes instead of the indicator square.
*shrug* Only thing that worked for me though...

I wanted to verify that Boycott Advance works fine for me also in Lion. I don't notice any problems with sound, etc. I tested a few Zelda games, Metroid Fusion, Final Fight, and a few others. Saving seems to work fine also. To be honest, this is the only emulator I've ever been able to get working reliably, and I have used it ever since my first PPC iMac running Tiger.

Changing Keyboard layout

Yeahhhhh, sorry guys, noob question. I can get to the preferences and keyboard layout stuff but I can't figure out how to change the layout. Help? Please? Sorry? Thanks!

There is actually a intel version of Visual Boy Advance called Mac Boy Advance which is what I'm using. Here: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Games/Mac-Boy-Advance.shtml

It's exactly the same as Visual Boy Advance except it runs on Intel and it's a bit faster. :)
Thanks, I downloaded it and it is working great. just two questions though, 1 whenever I enter fullscreen it bugs out and crashes, any fixes or do I just have to use the largest reguar non-fullscreen? also, is there any way to avoid the autosave, that red popup towards the bottom of the screen is annoying, and I can remember to save my own game.
