It will switch to the default keyboard if you haven’t changed the order.

gboard does not work when inputting text to a password field. The stock keyboard will show up, even if you've deleted the stock keyboard from the list. Could this be what you're seeing?

Also, gboard tends to crash a lot. If it weren't for how useful gboard is (swipe and sliding spacebar are killer features), I'd go back to the stock keyboard. Why can't Apple steal good features from Google and not silly ones like widgets. I'd like the stock keyboard to do swipe and slide/spacebar as the stock keyboard responds so much faster than gboard.

Remove the English keyboard and see if that helps. Although as @ftaok stated, the stock keyboard will pop up for passwords and such.

+1 this. Instead in today’s beta Apple updated the location icon in the status bar and made it ‘prettier’. Gee amazing engineers. I wonder how they came up with this instead of actually adding any new features like a swipe keyboard, dark mode, customizable days of the week for DND, additional cc buttons , and on and on....billion dollar company. I give up

Did you actually think a new beta build was going to bring new features like that?
