GDC EXP Beast V8 on iMac

Hello community. Hi I'm going to add an eGPU to my iMac mid 2011 21.5 inch. I surfed on the internet and I read that on the notebook's PCIe port you can add this card that permit you to add a Graphic Card. is this possible on a Mac? can I use Nando DIY eGpu setup on iMac? I will need an external monitor?
