Get a founders subscription for $4.99/month and as of August 1, Steam games are automatically synced. So buy your most desired Windows steam games, play them on your mac.

I have a macbook pro 2017 and I love Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, and Jurassic Park Evolution. Today, on a lark I downloaded the GeForce app for mac and synced my library. Playing these games at 1920x1080 with graphics on high. Beautiful.

Well, those which are supported. Which are about 50 of the more than 300* I have on Steam.

And what annoys the heck out of me is that I have to log into Steam and authenticate. Every. Single. Time. I want to play anything on Steam.

(* I have far too many games...)

which is 50 more than you could play on the mac without GeForce.

the login to steam is totally automatic for me and blends right into the load time of the game. nobody said GeForce was perfect but after 10 years I have accepted that Apple will always be a crap company for computer gaming. So I have taken corrective measure by purchasing a gaming PC for home and GeForce for my macbook pro gaming outside of the house.

Well that goes without saying - gaming and macs are generally not uttered in the same sentence other then to complain about lack of games. If you want to play games, then a gaming pc is a far better option especially since you don't have to buy the game from steam and pay a monthly subscription for Nvidia Geforce Now

Maybe I'm wrong, but with the xbox game pass, I can play games like Outer Worlds without buying the game, for Nividia I have to buy the game. When they first rolled it out, they had games available but now it seems you have to own them - its a deal breaker for me.

not if you want to play the games in macOS on a macbook pro which is exactly what I wanted. I already own a gaming pc. I needed something more.

xbox pass does not work in macOS so that does not even factor into this conversation.

So you want to pay a monthly fee instead playing for free on your PC? o_O

Sure it does, especially since you said you have a gaming PC. If you want to pay a sub, get the xbox game pass that way you don't have to pay for the games AND pay for the monthly sub like the Nvidia option.

I may not be a financial genius but not paying for something seems better then paying, especially if you have to pay twice like the Geoforce Now.

not sure if you are reading what I am writing. the reason for GeForce is to play pc games on my macbook pro in macOS. that means having the game WHEREVER I am when I am not sitting in front of my PC.

once again, not sure if you are reading what I am writing. the reason for GeForce is to play pc games on my macbook pro in macOS. that means having the game WHEREVER I am when I am not sitting in front of my PC. (and before you bring up the ridiculousness of bootcamping, No) :)

....and it is a viable option for people who DO NOT OWN a gaming pc.

so to summarize:

1. xbox pass does not work on macOS
2. not everyone owns a gaming pc
3. GeForce is a mobile option.

I get that, but if it came down to paying a monthly fee or not paying a monthly fee, I'd always opt for not paying a monthly fee. Getting or using a gaming PC is infinitely better then paying Nividia for the right to play the games you already own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Its your money, and you do what you want.

@maflynn do you own a mac or are you just the pc games moderator?
I am a member first and moderator second, as with all volunteers. We do not designate specific forums to moderate, we are responsible for the entire site.

Actually more like 5 or 10. The majority are indie games which have native Macs version.

the login to steam is totally automatic for me and blends right into the load time of the game. ...
I won't rule out that this is because I have two-factor authentification active on Steam.

I recently had my playstation account hacked and it was a royal pain to recover it. I did not have 2FA enabled, so I highly recommend embracing elevated security on anything that has payment info and/or items you own, i.e., your games.

not even close to being accurate. There are 10 Assassins Creed games alone. Far Cry 1-5 are there, Tropico 4-6, the Tom Clancy games. That is more than enough for someone who doesn't consider gaming important enough to buy a gaming pc. Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, and JP Evo are the only games I play on it and it is worth the $5 to have them on my macbook pro. Don't be such a Negative Nancy.

You didn't answer the mac question, but no matter. Your flawed reasoning is that you are paying nVidia for the right to play the games you already own.. We are actually paying for a service that pumps a pc game we own into hardware created by a company that is a complete loser when it comes to gaming. Macs are the best for everything else, they just need some gaming viagra. Thats what nVidia provides.

Maybe, just maaaaybe you should go back, read my posts again, and then think a bit more about why your reply completely misses the point.

But since you mention it: Ubisoft's games are some of the very few AAA games available on GeForce Now. No GTA, no CoD, no Halo, no Bioshock, none of the newer Star Wars games... the list of missing games goes on and on.

speaking of not getting the point, as I said, if gaming is that important to someone, they would already own a gaming pc. the GeForce is for people who want to game but don't want to invest in a second computer or leave their mac. Not everyone needs the latest AAA games. I get it, in your mind, you are a professional gamer. :)

Others are happy to pick up some games from the past 10 years that were not available on the Mac and play them when they aren't being productive or like me, who wants to play some current games on my notebook when I am travelling. That is a good target audience for the GeForce.

I predict that Geforce Now will not succeed, unless actual games that people want to play are available. There are other options and largely needing to buy the game and pay Nvidia is a poor business model.

what are some of these other options for mac users you speak of?

Google stadia for instance. Also you can run windows on your mac, so that actually use steam and play games without a subscription

Maybe stop making stupid assumptions. You know nothing about me, my preferences, my views, or my opinions. Although I've formed one about you.

I beg your pardon?? Stadia is an ever worse solution than Geforce Now, exactly because of the reason you mention: you have to pay Google for using Stadia and on top of that have to buy every game separately. In contrast to Geforce Now, you can't even play the games you already own on Steam.

you said you had 300 games on Steam. you are forced to accept my assumption. :)
